Mavs Trade Luka to Lakers

Luka made these guys who are saying AD is better look stupid.

This was an open book test.
We have 5 years of data here that is pretty consistent.
AD had PEAKS of top 10 player level performance but struggles to stay healthy and when playing banged up he is nowhere near the same player because his game is all built on elite athleticism.
Luka starts years slowly but plays himself into shape and then is a merciless killer late in the season and in the playoffs. 2nd best
counting stats in the playoffs of any player behind only Michael Jordan.
Negatives:
Luka -- Can ignore defense for large stretches in what he considers meaningless games. Barks at refs so much they disdain him. Starts year out of shape.
AD -- Suffers a lot of physical ailments and it seriously impacts his play when he is banged up. Wants to play the 4 regardless of team or fit. Can fall apart on offense and become invisible for large stretches.

AD with a 40-point night but abysmal defensively, how ironic. I thought he was the savior, what happened? Injured again too, can’t make this **** up. I feel bad for him tho, he was put in a terrible situation by the clown GM who traded for him.

I hope dumb dumb Nico’s ready to watch Luka ball out tomorrow, watching the look of disgust on his dumb face all night was pretty entertaining.

AD played great. He was the least of their problems. Problem is he had half of their points. Brandon Williams looked good.

I mean we can blame all these guys but the defense was bad which is hilarious because the mantra was defense all week from Nico.

What Luka does doesn’t matter. He can go out there and score zero points and lose in the first round. They still didn’t get enough for him.

Yea from him and that other guy claiming the Mavs won the trade, to this now

It is important to grow and part of that is having opinion's change.
I am willing to give anyone who does that grace.

It was absurd; listening to Silver talk NBA and how much ratings are up the back half of the season.
To a bitter Mavs fan, it felt like gloating when he called out the trade in a positive light for the NBA.
Add insult to injury when Pelinka gets extended with a raise and a bigger title.
This is basketball hate now for sure.

Agreed. I think it was such an emotional move from both sides. It’s clear they should’ve and could’ve got more…they didn’t. I said the same thing. David is a top 10 talent he just has to stay healthy. Which is tough. There’s not many better players who can play as good as him on both sides of the ball.

March 7th…..

They would’ve never got that but that’s what I thought it would take to get Luka from the Mavs.

yeah I don’t agree we won but if we win a ring from the trade I will say it was a success. But trying to find sense in that trade….its gonna have to come later if Luka retired by 28 or 29.

I can’t speak for anyone else but my opinion never changed. I just wasn’t gonna crap on AD like some was. He’s a great player. I said he was top 10 you said no. Fair. He can’t stay healthy and this is why I said I wanted more in the deal. It should’ve been a high ceiling low floor type deal.

I can understand the logic behind wanting a player like AD. His age and injury history is a concern.

But if there is one thing that I didn’t see is Nico not being here long. Listening to him these last few days he has no intentions of being here so he doesn’t care about our future.

And I also wonder was there a package where we could’ve got AD without giving up Luka…..

AD is a realllllyyyyyy good player. But AD was not and will never be Mamba Mentality.
The chubby Slovenian IS Mamba Mentality.
He will rip your heart out in front of your loved ones on national TV and eat it.
No one can play with that intensity year-round without going full on nuts.
There is a reason Kobe spent so much off-season time in Europe!

And that in a nutshell is reason 1 why the trade was so heinously flawed.
