Verdict's Random Thoughts on our draft class + free agency/trades

who is going to trade for bodies at position where you dont need to excel?
Hoffman and Bass can start for a lot of teams in this league. And certainly as backups. A lot of teams have no depth or decent Guards. I could see Dono traded as well.

The Cowboys hit a home run with their first two picks then it was Jerry Springer time when the wheels started to fall off. In the 3rd round like clock work they go and draft a guy coming off an ACL injury. Why Jerry why do you ALWAYS draft injured players. Not only that they let Johnson and Skattebo slip right through their hands and now we have to play against Skattebo. Not only that he drafts a glorified Duece Vaugh, why do we need another one??? Grading this draft I can only go as high as a C-
Yeah I’m not excited about facing skattebo with this defense twice a year.

How dare you post anything with a hint of optimism, OP. As Cowboys' fans, we're supposed to portray doom & gloom, hate every draft pick, and hate every player not named Aikman, Smith, or Irvin. In all seriousness, I'm not a fan of the ownership and how they run their organization, but I do like everything Schottenheimer has done so far and I'm looking forward to watching the new kids moving forward. Loved your post BTW.

i dont see that.

the teams that are going to win, wont have a use for them or pick up a steady guard cheaper and probably easier .

not saying you re wrong, its just opinion.

If you rewind to this time last year we passed on drafting an RB and had Zeke and Rico. I personally felt worse about RB going into last season then this season. Obviously the season ended differently with Rico emerging, but he wasn't a guy that opened up the game. He was tough between the tackles and surprised for sure but I feel we have more upside in the room with more options over last year. Whether if they have a 1k on the roster remains in question.
More options maybe, but I feel we're not that much different than we were. We've got the washed-up veteran (Zeke=Sanders), the limited-use back with some bad numbers (Freeman=Williams, except Freeman actually averaged 4.1 YPC the year before we signed him), the later-round pick (Vaughn=Blue) and the practically undrafted (Dowdle=Mafah).

The good is we've got several different players to stick out there and give it a whirl. The bad is we don't know if we can expect any of them to even be the next Dowdle.
