Turpin as WR 2 or 3

Tank is on the trading block as the rumors go.

Its just too small to be even a 3rd WR (in weight), and the faster they run the worse it could get going across the middle. Sure we could shift CD to the slot, but Turpin isn't known to beat people one on one on the outside. I do like Turp, but his role might be already defined at this point.
I've never heard that Tank was on the trading block. Must have been before his injury cause at this point, they can't trade him with that injury and he's slated to be out next year and maybe longer.

I think Turpin is a 3. I like what he has done given the chance and I would use him more.

He’s gotta be one of the top 5-10 dangerous guys in the NFL with the ball in his hands. He‘s a block or one missed tackle away from going 50 yards on many plays. A good X’s and O’s coach would put him in motion and find a mismatch. He should have more touches. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt but we need to use him at least a little more.

Many people think our WR2 is a gaping hole, it’s not a strength but if you look around the league there are other teams with similar situations:

Shakir - Keon Coleman 29 rec, 556, 4TD’s
Jeudy - Cedric Tilman 29, 339, 3
Sutton - Marvin Mims 39, 503, 6
Diggs - Demario Douglas 66, 621, 3
Wilson - Allen Lazard 37, 530, 6
Ridley - Tyler Locket 49, 600, 2
Harrison - Michael Wilson 47, 548, 4
Nabers - Wan’Dale Robinson 93, 699, 3

Jalen Tolbert 49, 610, 7
More yards than most and more TD’s than all of these other #2WR’s while playing with Cooper Rush.

Turpin had 400+ yards. Jonathan Mingo has barely played 30 games and has never had a decent QB his entire NFL career.

I hope and think we are transitioning to a more run based attack. I think there will be less targets to be had. Couple that with some catches out of the backfield, 2 decent TE’s, maybe some 2 TE sets to help the run game… This team doesn’t look like a SB contender. Let’s evaluate our guys and see what we have this year, and prioritize the holes next year.

He did a lot with the reps he had last year. So give him more reps..... I feel like, right now, Jalen Tolbert might be better than the available options in FA. I also feel like Turpin can be a 2 or at least 3. He's really improved as a player. His next leap would have to be refining his route running. But I truly feel our starting lineup can be Lamb, Tolbert and Turpin. It has the potential to be a lethal combination if both Tolbert and Turpin can reach their highest potential. Like they may not be the tallest or biggest. But the potential for them to be one of the best trios in the league is there if the staff can maximize these players.
I like the possibilities of Turpin + Blue on the field together.
There are only so many defenders in the league who can keep up with their speed.
How many have 2?

Would be the worst number two in the league, and among the worst number threes

We are in trouble if that's the best answer we got. He's a kick returner. You get him the ball in space by running him out the backfield into the flat and play off that. But as a pure WR, no thanks.

You cooking...

Turpin is too short to be a major WR weapon. His lack of height and weight (5'9", 152 lbs) is what keeps him at only receiving 5-10 passing snaps on offense.
Randall Cobb, Steve smith, T.Y. Hilton, Julian Edelman, Tyreek Hill, Wes Welker and a few other good receivers are 5' 10" or less.... so if we're going to use requirements, height doesn't always seem to be one of them.

The thing is I dont need him to be #2 or #3 i need this OC to figure out how to get him impactfull touches 5 to 8 times a game, he may be too small but now even in the NFL Turpin puts 6 on the board more times per touch than most "Right Size" players...thats just a fact.

seriously. Turpin could be a very good slot receiver like Cole Beasley if he could run really good routes, he could actually be better than Bease if since he is quick and fast whereas Beasely was just quick. His tip top is ceiling is a top slot guy but more likely a WR4 on most plays.

I agree sort of I mean Turpin definitely should be the number three but you can work them in as the two on some play calls situational football but you're right Tolbert had a better season last year than a lot of free agents low fruit trades that were made

you know look at their names you'd think they were better but go look at last year Tolbert and put them side by side with Samuels and Cooper kup and Michael Gallup and some of the others that they want now look at him compared to Keenan Allen's numbers and Amarin Cooper's

not saying that's what's going to happen but he also was better than Brandon Cooks the last two seasons, they've had about the exact same production and ones on the way up, Tolbert's on the way up where Brandon Cooks is on the way down and yet they paid him,

how much people are paying for names, maybe better to have a younger guy on a rookie contract and he's getting better even if it's small amounts slow developing, why would you bring in a veteran over him unless it was clearly a better option...Not yet not progress stopper..

I'm not against them bringing in you know a player if he's going to be released soon, or he could trade a 5th for a player that's like Brandon Cooks was three years ago, you get a guy like that that could soon be a part of cutdowns then I'm all for it..
But right now these young players need all the reps and these camps and Otas and training camp and then we could bring in a player later I don't think they're going to pass up adding a veteran I think right now they want to see what they got.

PS -Apparently that Oregon wide receiver they brought in as an undrafted free agent is going to have something to say about making this team and knocking some of these guys down you know he's going to be the pet cat for our receivers coach you look at his video he might have something once again for...

And there are others that were brought in this is going to be a straight up competition to fight both at running back for the second white receiver spot the defensive tackles I mean this should be a fun camp and a fun preseason because I think this coaching staff outside of maybe 10 players maybe 15 there could be some real competition they're going to leave it wide open May the best players win and figure out how they're all fall on the depth chart...
