I think Turpin is a 3. I like what he has done given the chance and I would use him more.
He’s gotta be one of the top 5-10 dangerous guys in the NFL with the ball in his hands. He‘s a block or one missed tackle away from going 50 yards on many plays. A good X’s and O’s coach would put him in motion and find a mismatch. He should have more touches. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt but we need to use him at least a little more.
Many people think our WR2 is a gaping hole, it’s not a strength but if you look around the league there are other teams with similar situations:
Shakir - Keon Coleman 29 rec, 556, 4TD’s
Jeudy - Cedric Tilman 29, 339, 3
Sutton - Marvin Mims 39, 503, 6
Diggs - Demario Douglas 66, 621, 3
Wilson - Allen Lazard 37, 530, 6
Ridley - Tyler Locket 49, 600, 2
Harrison - Michael Wilson 47, 548, 4
Nabers - Wan’Dale Robinson 93, 699, 3
Jalen Tolbert 49, 610, 7
More yards than most and more TD’s than all of these other #2WR’s while playing with Cooper Rush.
Turpin had 400+ yards. Jonathan Mingo has barely played 30 games and has never had a decent QB his entire NFL career.
I hope and think we are transitioning to a more run based attack. I think there will be less targets to be had. Couple that with some catches out of the backfield, 2 decent TE’s, maybe some 2 TE sets to help the run game… This team doesn’t look like a SB contender. Let’s evaluate our guys and see what we have this year, and prioritize the holes next year.
