Stephen Jones - Mingo, Tolbert & Flournoy all have the potential to be a WR2

Tolbert is a #2. Flournoy wasn't given many chances but looked real good with limited opportunities. Mingo was struggling just to catch the ball. Whoever recommended Mingo to Jerry should be fired.
He was not struggling to catch the ball, he was not given much opportunity and he had weak arm Rush throwing

I actually like Tolbert. Just not as a number 2. I would really like to get a closer look at Flourney. He has some measurables that are attractive. But he is a #5 or a guy that needs to earn the spot in training camp. I have no idea what Mingo is. It certainly isn't promising since joining the NFL. Personally I just don't see it. Although let’s see what he offers in training camp. Regardless, they need more talent at WR.
Measurable is just like potential

Only 16 targets most from a noodle arm. The one game he started there was a pass 10' in the air and one that hit the dirt.

The second they didn't land a WR in the draft we all knew this statement was coming. It's his job to try and sell the players on this team as "highly skilled and dangerous" so the fans will continue to believe they are on their way to the SB!

But we all know they are still looking to upgrade WR2, so that means they don't believe it.

Now that Stephen clarified this i feel more than relaxed.

My question would be now: why do we need three WRs with the ability to play the 2nd WR when we have only one 2nd WR spot that needs to be filled ? Isnt that a waste of resources? Why have we spent a 4th on the trade when we already had two other players with the potential to be our no 2 guy?

Stephen ? Is that your way to build a roster? Take 3 guys to fill one spot because...?... you are not able to judge talent?

I remember when we took 3 CBs in one draft when we tried to find one starter. In the end not one of those three panned out.

Same people as of today made those decissions. Same crap again i have to watch these days. Same BS Stephen is telling me again to justify his inability.

"they just haven't shown that yet."

I think at this point we have seen enough Tolbert to figure out what he is. Maybe playing with Rush last year was to his detriment but he's been here for 3 years. At what point does he reach his potential? Seems like now is past his due date.

Mingo is probably in the same boat, but coming here mid-season last year had to be a set back for him. I thought he showed some potential in 2024 but for some reason Rush never threw good passes to him. I can accept that maybe Mingo develops into a WR2 if given the chance.

Flournoy was an unused rookie, but I thought I saw somethings from him in preseason to get him more chances. I don't know that he can be a WR2, but I think he can be a very reliable and effective WR3. He has a knack for getting open in the short and intermediate passing game. We just don't have a big enough sample size to draw any conclusions.

Remember how bad it got that they had to trade for Coop??
Jerry and Stephen do this all the time. Neglect to adequately fill a need only to have it finally blow up in their face causing them to overreact.

Its always interesting to me that we give Mingo a break because "he wasn't given much of an opportunity". The fact that he couldnt get more reps on a team as thin at WR as the Cowboys isnt more telling?

Don't get me wrong, I hope Mingo goes off this camp and makes Jerry look like a genius, but not getting reps typically just means that he didn't show enough in practice to earn more playing time.

Stephen Jones likes to give constant attention to spreading misinformation. It's serves him well, or so it seems. That apple hasn't fallen far from the tree -- that's clear to see. It remains to be seen if those mentioned have the potential that he claims they do. We'll likely see about that in due time. SJ says many things that reek of salesmanship. It's a strong reminder of someone we all know.

We have a bunch of #3s and #4s, but nobody who seems ready to step up to #2. But that is how the Jones Boyz run a roster. They think a bunch of #3s and #4s will equal a viable #2 somehow.
