Video: MMQB: Sorry guys, Cowboys will improve next season

Sounds logical, but Dallas could surprise if they could run the ball and stop the run early in the year and gain some confidence In themselves. If Shottenheimer can instill some discipline and Dallas don't have 12 penalties per game that could help too.

IF
they truly can impose the run game upon even good teams & play almost error free, they have a chance to "surprise". Even then, it would seem difficult to get enough wins to be above middle of the pack.

Are we sure? Last time he was healthy he was a all pro…
Yes
We're sure.
He was healthy last year and was rated in the 20s.
In fact, his QBR was 29th, Cooper Rush was 30th. Doesn't that say a lot right there?
This year's schedule is not going to be any easier.

Not going to get you to the dance

I agree, if Dallas can run the football really well early that would make a big difference to what ever QB is playing at the time.
This is my expectation as well.

Early season run game success followed by defenses stacking 8 and 9 man box run fronts in order to force SleepNumber to beat them.
Theres not a good historical track record on that being successful.

I think it's kind of a no-brainer that we will improve a little look at all the people we're getting back from injury
And we had a pretty good draft.
No we're not going to the Super bowl but there's an outside chance we could sneak into the playoffs with 10 wins if things go right.
It's a tough division the two teams in the NFC championship game come from our division not going to be an easy road.
Well I liked our draft. However for the most part our draft just replaced mostly what we lost.

Booker - Martin
Eze - Lawrence
Revel - Diggs injured/trade block
Blue - Rico

So on and so on.

Did we get better? I think we got younger.

Less injuries will make us better.

My guess is we will be back to where we were in 2023 at best.

It all depends on when Dak goes out.

If we’re 10ish games in it’ll be too much of a hole for Milton to dig out of, but if it’s earlier, like 6ish games in we could do it.

Dak played 6 games last year lol. He had a 89 QB rating….

You know what his qb rating was the first 6 games hit all pro year? 91. But you believe his qb rating would’ve stayed the same?

We have no idea what the schedule will be like. Some teams will be better the we expect some will be worse. One thing I’ve learned from the NFL is expect the unexpected.

Teams that can't run the ball effectively, typically do not have a good QB rating.

Baring injuries, every category should be better on offense, which in turn, will have a positive impact on our defense.

Team was HORRIBLE before the injuries. Stop using that excuse.
There's a select group that can't handle the reality that the team sucked before all the injuries.
Its like they can't accept the first half of the season's reality of sucking bad while healthy.

Some really weird coping mechanism.

Immature, but whatever.

There are some here that think the trade for Lance was a prudent move. Many more that think Vaughn is going to be an impact player. Accepting the Cowboys were not very good early last season is a difficult ask. Off season is for fantasizing.

He was gonna have a higher qb rating than 89 is my point. 6 games is such a small sample size when he starts seasons off slow.

Well said. Those collective mindsets regarding certain players that you describe here are ones that I did not agree with.

And fantasy football is as apt a description as any in describing the philosophy of this team's roster builder.

Kinda agree with them, tho, on WAS. I don't pretend to have studied their off-season, but strictly in terms of 2024, I think their record severely over-represented how good they were. There may be some regression there.
Yeah I can see that. Didn’t they have a couple games come down to the last second. I know the Bears game was pretty much over then the Hail Mary happened. I agree we may be closer to Washington but I still feel we are a ways from Philly. But I think we improved enough to make the playoffs as a WC. Prior to the draft I didn’t think that. And once in the playoffs who knows who we could upset.

10 and 7 is this teams ultimate ceiling with a first round exit in the playoffs.
Hard for me to get excited about that.

Yep if we make the playoffs us fans are going to be UPSET with another first round exit.
