TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

I can't nod my head yes, and I can't nod my head no.

It will be a genius move if it works, and it won't be a genius move if it doesn't. But that's all yet to be seen.

I'll say this in their favor... if indeed he was that highly rated on their draft board, the fact that he's under contract long enough to get a full assessment makes him worth a 5th for sure, and then if a 5th for sure, then a 4th possibly... again... if he proves to be an asset.

Yes, he's going to get fewer snaps now, but then again, you're probably going to (unfortunately) have enough injuries over the course of 17 games that Mingo will have a chance to show out.

Cliffs notes: The jury is going to meeting for most of this next season before rendering a legit verdict on that question.
I liked the Mingo trade though I think he could have been had for a 5th but whatever. But that trade in context with the Pickens trade was my point. It bumps Mingo to 3 and we have much better options when we go 3 wide. Turpin is a playmaker but you have to use him sparingly. But blue runs routes like a WR, has great hands and dynamic runner in space. I’d use Turpin and blue in 3 wide sets which means Mingo doesn’t get many targets. It’s not about the Mingo deal or Pickens deal so much as it’s about not having a plan and just making each decision in a vacuum. With Pickens, Mingo isn’t worth a 4th

He's UFA. no 5th year option.
I know. Even UFA get compensatory picks awarded correct?

We know what we are getting and will need to decide during the season if he is for us long term.
Bengals, Eagles, Washington, ect seem to make it work with 2 legit WR's that need to get paid.

Which is why I was basiclly absent form this place most of last year. It just gets depressing and not very enjoyable to just listen to people that wake up, kick their dog, tell their wife she is getting fat, and then jump on Cowboys Zone to spread some cheer.
Same here brother.
This place has become the home to a toxic group of complainers. I often wonder what makes someone spend so much of their life on something they seem to hate so much.

We want to run the ball, but also we have 2 WR's that will lose interest in the game if they aren't fed early.
run the ball doesnt mean run the ball like the 1973 Dolphins. Dak will be passing 30 times a game, no matter how much we run the ball.

You literally just bragged about how well they draft in the 3rd lol.
but outside of CD, they haven't really been able to draft WRs, DTs, Safties, they tend to pick well in OL and CBs for some reason.

and throwing draft picks at players that have one year left on the contract is costly. instead of getting a player for 4,5 years. you get them for one year and/or you have to pay through the nose to keep them. not a smart way of building a team.

Who said they missed on Mingo? Mingo can play in this offense.
When you are trying to draft a WR at pick 12 in the first round and then go trade for Pickens that usually means the player who was the 4th or 5th best option on your team the previous season is a miss.

That's complete nonsense. Dallas is actually one of the better drafting teams in the league. Lots of things so complain about with Jerry, but drafting isn't one of them.
so you like Mazi, Schoon, always injured Overshown (who was average before injuries), Charlton, Joseph....awsome picks in the first three rounds.

now, granted, they are good at identifying OL men and do decent at CB...
