Glad they did not bite on old and injured AC
Seems just as likely that Tomlin and the Steelers create these mentally challenged WRs. I'm sure in a stable franchise like Dallas, it will turnaround for him. But hey, great podcast material ahead.I will echo the thoughts that if Tomlin couldn't make it work with him, Schottenheimer has no shot.
The 9 years of watching him. Nothing trumps what we have all seen.which evidence is that? his upper echelon deep play pct? the guy is a mixed bag overall, but some of the narratives are lazy. just google man.
If it was for a 5th, the league would be going insane about how it was the biggest steal of the year.I'd have taken a flier on Pickens if his cost was like a 5th rounder or worse but I just can't shake the feeling we got burned here again.
no. You said we should have kept our 3rd round pick because Pickens doesn’t make us a Super Bowl team.does Pickens make us a superbowl team? how?
could a DT get us closer to a superbowl team? how about a saftey? or LB? could we package that and move up in the draft to get an impact defensive player? now, pickens on a one year deal. and no 3rd round pick and no other guarantees.
we already know offense alone doesn't do anything...you need defense...but I get it. Offense sells more jerseys.
Oh they did want him gone. I’m just saying that shouldn’t scare people being they have up a 3rd for him. A low risk dealClaypool was another diva baby that they had soured on. In that final season he had been benched for an on the field incident with another player and then later famously celebrated a catch when the Steelers had no timeouts and he let the clock run out costing them a chance at a win. He got fried by the organization and fans for that. Steelers did sign Smith-Schuster to a 2nd contract, it was a one year deal. He got injured a missed a bulk of that season and despite coming back for the playoffs, the Steelers simply let him walk (where he then signed another one year deal with KC).
What's funny here is that this isn't he said, she said stuff here. Pickens antics have been out in the open. Steelers wanted him gone due to that and we obliged them.
Agreere: character guys...I'd rather have a player that needs to throttle down. He's passionate. Michael Irving. Dez Bryant. Pickens is of that competitive ilk, and we love them.
We're going to love Pickens too.
Take a look at picks 44 and 76.Adding a talented receiver doesn't hurt though I'm tired of them ignoring the defense. Maybe those 7th round DTs will save the day.
Top WR2’s get at least $25 million AAV w/ $75 million guaranteed. Of course that’s going to go up in the future. What is it about Pickens that makes you believe he’ll show up for the last year of his rookie deal without a new contract? Micah isn’t going to.There has been no indication that he is only a 1 year rental.
Maybe if we don't accomplish anything this season and let him walk then I could agree.
I just don't have any reason to assume we traded for him with the intentions of letting him walk away.
Even then we get a compensatory pick.
wait..... I thought we were supposed to try and be like that model franchise... you know the one with a real GM, the one that doesnt meddle with the coach..... but you are saying they havent won a playoff game in 9 years? Are you sure? I thought they have won at least 2 SBs during that stretch.Tomlin also hasn't won a playoff game in 9 yrs
So you want an elite talent at 24 for a 5th? Who’s doing that? The price is what gets me.
We now have given up a 4th rounder for a total project in Mingo and a 3rd for a guy that if I were to put odds on it, it around 80% likely to melt down here in Dallas.
I'd have taken a flier on Pickens if his cost was like a 5th rounder or worse but I just can't shake the feeling we got burned here again.
Im excited about Mingo. That guy played with the worst QB in the league. Jerry Rice would have sucked in Carolina. Last year, cant count it. Lets give the guy a full season, and if he sucks, then ok. But you cant judge this guy yet.Who said they missed on Mingo? Mingo can play in this offense.
you want to tell me DTs don't matter? would you not rather have traded up for example and take some one like Schewsinger, Emmanwori, TJ Sanders, or use the picks to move up in first round and take a player like Graham..So which DT are you so upset we passed on?
Would this DT matter in your scenario if Parson was down?
Pickens already said he doesn’t want a deal. He wants to prove it. And being his agent is also Micah’s? Wouldn’t shock me if they are playing it the same way.Top WR2’s get at least $25 million AAV w/ $75 million guaranteed. Of course that’s going to go up in the future. What is it about Pickens that makes you believe he’ll show up for the last year of his rookie deal without a new contract? Micah isn’t going to.
If he’s a “keeper” the time to sign him is now. Right now. The same can be said of Parsons, too, but no sense of urgency. Does Jerry know Pickens’ agent’s name?
ok. got it....yeah, he is all TMZ....Mountaineer….he’s most vocal at times like these. Just to troll.
Turpin is so small I think they want him to focus on return duties and maybe a jet sweep or two. Blue I don’t even know if he will even get reps at this point.I would rather have Turpin some and blue some. Much better speed and blue runs routes like a WR. They are playmakers.
So you think Pickens is only gonna get 50 targets this year? You think we are goin gto run the ball 45 times a game? Tomlin couldnt make it work? You think if the Steelers had an actual QB things would have been a little different?I agree with this.
I like the player, he's definitely a talent and I also love his size.
But you're exactly right, a players guy with cred like Tomlin couldn't make it work with him, we think he's going to respect a guy who most teams wouldn't have hired as an OC?
Plus he's not going to get too many targets here. We want to run now, and CD gets the lions share of our targets, I fear Pickens is going to act up when he's not getting the ball.
I guess it could work to our benefit that he's in a contract year, so maybe he'll behave.
Amazing how winning SBs makes players passionate.Arch GMFB. They explained why he had issues in Pittsburgh.
Look at the QB's he had. Several analysts said now he has a steady QB with CeeDee on the other side. He should thrive.
And he really does not have character issues. They called it "Passionate" for Irvin, and even Moss.
Cowboys blow seconds every year, people complaining about a third. Why yall care about picks so much. I want to win now. Who cares about a 3rd next year. .
what hatred? what justification? what did we get the last time we had the #1 scoring offense in the league? a blow out in the playoffs. and the time before that? same thing and the time before that, exactly the same thing. so investing in offense to be top notch in the league has resulted in nothing! absolutely nothing in post season. This is the nonsense fans need to sell themselves in order to justify their hatred.
He is about to die..... lights out. No more chances.... I doubt his bank account increasing by a couple dollars moves a man probably worth 10 billion at this point.
How much extra do you really think he is going to get from a George Pickens jersey?
