The Cowboys had a good offseason. Strong draft and now Pickens. The biggest X factor for the Cowboys is Guyton. He had a subpar rookie year and his level of play is unacceptable for a starting LT. He needs to make a major leap forward for the Cowboys to truly have a chance this year. Hopefully Klayton Adams + the Cowboys strength and conditioning staff can help Guyton elevate his performance.

I agree to a large extent that Guyton and Mazi's growth are important to seeing team improvement. However, I think the biggest question remains can Dak rebound? Guyton can obviously help with getting him better protection, and Mazi can help with getting the defense off the field but a lot is on Dak's shoulders.

This was jerry idiocy. The offseason plan of drafting a raw RT and plugging him in at LT day one was just wishful thinking. Poor guy had to go against Myles Garrett in his first game. Hoping for a better result in year 2 with new OL coach and OC.

I’m not saying that either will, but imagine if both Guyton and Mazi play up to their draft status this season ;)

We really need him to step up. It sounds like they have contingincies if he does not. He was new to the position and young, so you hope to see improvement. Although, the team was clearly better when he was out and appeared to get worse as the year went on. We have seen that an offense can be wrecked if a team has a good pass rusher that dominates a tackle.

Guyton is important no doubt but he will be replaced immediately if he doesn’t improve. The Cowboys have a million guards on the roster for a reason. They would move Tyler Smith to tackle if they have too.

I think so.

All that needs to be said.

Not sure he’s the key to the season but he certainly needs to get his act together. The Cowboys also addressed the position with some veteran FA signings in case he falters. LT is certainly an important position seeing as how he protects the QB’s blind side.
