TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

At least doing something. He’s a solid 2
Solid?

He was Pittsburgh's 1. A lot to pay for 1 year. But maybe Jerry is going all in this year.

This right here makes us dangerous. We still have Tolbert, too. So now the offense looks suddenly great.

All I'm seeking after 30 years of futility is to be entertained. I'd love to win it all, but that's not my expectations now after seeing us fail to get far in the playoffs year after year after year. If nothing else, the Pickens trade should be entertaining.

I'm not going to worry about whether we should have done more on defense,, whether we re-sign the player to make it worth the picks, etc. Are you not more entertained by this team than you were going into today?

Dak crumbled in San Fran and he’s not capable of getting in a shootout.

Dak getting paid is the problem. Don’t tell me about how important the team is then tell me Dak deserves Josh Allen money.

Especially when Cooper Rush wins and loses the same games as Dak.
Ben Roethlisberger won a Super Bowl while completing 9 of 21 passes with two interceptions and a passer rating of 22.6.

It takes a team to win playoff games. We can blame Dak for not performing as well in the playoffs as he does in the regular season and that is fair.

Now, name me all the other Cowboys players in those playoff games that DID perform well. You can't credit the team for all the wins and dismiss Dak; and then just blame Dak for all the losses while letting the rest of the team off the hook.

Word around Pittsburgh is that he's going to be a huge problem especially around contract time. I like having two talented WRs, but Pickens wants to be THE guy.

I just don't understand it from this perspective. We can't afford Lamb and Pickens.

A 3rd and a 5th for a one year look-see on a hot-head diva that a blue chip franchise and well-respected coached passed on? That is your "great trade"?

If we sign him to a contract and he helps the team for 3-5 years, I would agree with you. But it's not a slam dunk. Right now, we gave up prime draft picks for...a one year experiment with a bonafide head case.
Prime draft picks? A third?

There is also an issue with this dude just not being anything OTHER than a receiver. He is a liability in the run game.....when we are trying to transition to a more run focused/balanced offense.

People are going to look at his 2023 numbers and get excited. There is a reason we got him for a third.

Because he’s a diva. He’s reckless. No doubt there’s risk. All I ask is try to do something. Waiting for the perfect choir boy isn’t gonna cut it.

GP cap hit is 3.6M

Then he’s UFA.

But losing the 3rd hurts down the road.

Not sure who pushed for the trade.

that 3rd round pick = a 4 year starter.

Pickens is gone after 2025. UFA.

Plus the 3M+ cap hit for 2025.
So, if he kills it and plays like a WR1 and leaves for another team on a contract to match … the Cowboys get a third round compensatory pick?

If he plays like a WR2 and they get a 4th?

For $3m?

People can’t help themselves.

There has been no indication that he is only a 1 year rental.
Maybe if we don't accomplish anything this season and let him walk then I could agree.
I just don't have any reason to assume we traded for him with the intentions of letting him walk away.
Even then we get a compensatory pick.
I read something today claiming the Cowboys intend to let him play out his rookie deal. That means he becomes a free agent at the end of the season. I think we all know what that means. The Cowboys are not paying him $25 million or more to play along side CeeDee.
