Thank you Jerry

I do not mean this in a sarcastic manner. I actually do mean it when I say "Thank you Jerry." I ripped him to pieces last year when I felt he wasn't showing effort. This offseason, I do see effort from him. So, with that, I must credit him for the effort. I'm NOT sure how the season will go, but I do see effort to try to improve the team. For that, I'm glad to see.

Aside from the Mingo trade, I like the moves we have made in the trades. I like the draft. I'm onboard with the Pickens trade. Is it just me, or is Jerry actually keeping relatively quiet and actually doing something? So, yeah, thank you Jerry for showing effort this offseason.
This is something Jerry use to do all the time with mixed results. Grab up good players anywhere he could get them. So I am glad he did it.

What I won't do is thank him for showing situational awareness twice in the last dozen years. We'll see if he's tuned in, or if this is a one time thing like it was after trading for Cooper.

It's fine to look like he's making the moves. But it still has to translate on the field. I'll be cautiously enthusiastic. Been down this road before...like...30 times?

Yes...fine that it LOOKS like he might have decent player moves. We shall see is The Word.

Sounds so nice when you say it. If i said it, I'd be called, Boot licker, minion, idol worshipper. And, I'd tell them to kiss my Shabazz and share their thoughts with their cult buddies.

Lol, well, hey, if I'm going to criticise Jerry when I don't like the moves he makes, then it's only fair I credit him when I think he makes good moves.

Sure, but it doesn't change the fact that the effort is there, unlike last year. I said this all last year. If he makes an effort and it doesn't work, then fine. At least he tried. When he was giving no/minimal effort like last year, then I'm going to be much harsher. This is the NFL. I can understand moves not working. At least I can see effort.

this is a very fair post. We don't know what's going to happen but attempts are being made this off season to try to bring in talent.

Exactly, and I'm a lot less harsh when I can at least see effort. At this point, there is talent, on paper, being acquired. Now, level of culpability is shifting more to the coaching staff and the players to make sure they hold their end of the bargain. Unlike last year, Jerry is actually holding up his end of the bargain so far. That's how it works with me.

I do wonder if the Cowboys have realized the Mingo trade probably won't work out. He may be 5th or 6th or off the team this year. The good news is there should be some good motivated competition for #3 and roster spots instead of just carrying mostly who's here with experience.

I could very easily see Mingo not making the team. I could see a scenario where he's traded.

It's going to take a Hell of a lot more than trading for a wide receiver for me to get over thirty years of meddling, holding press conferences after games, making decisions like he throws darts at a chart, misses, and then picks the most illogical things to do.

When he steps aside as the GM, hires someone with autonomy, makes Charlotte the head of the Dallas Cowboys, and sends Little Anus to Arkansas to find oil, I will say thank you.

But if this kissing and making up is over a WR trade, I see you and raise you Roy Williams.
I agree that she should be running things. Seems to be the smartest of the bunch.

It's truly amazing how easily Jerry can wrangle them right back in.

He knows his fanbase well.

This team is gonna miss the playoffs and finish, at best, 3rd in the division next season, and ya'll gonna be left hurt. 30 years and counting.

MountaineerCowboy told ya first.

Did I say it was going to work? No, I didn't. Just because I'm crediting someone doesn't mean I am being unreasonable.

Read this very carefully:

To me, because Jerry is putting in effort, the level of CULPABILITY if this team fails SHIFTS more towards the COACHES and PLAYERS. Because Jerry is ADDING talent and MAKING AN EFFORT, then he is holding up his end of the bargain for THIS offseason. That means the COACHES and PLAYERS hold up THEIR end of the bargain INCLUDING Dak Prescott. I will be much harsher on the PLAYERS (especially with a rookie HC) than Jerry this season because of the effort. I will still be critical of him, but, to me, the culpability is more on the PLAYERS than the FO unlike last year.

The Cowboys are considerably better on paper and some of you are mad about it lol.

Players win games. We got one.

The Cowboys culture in the 90s involved a lot of things worse than a bad attitude by a WR.

Exactly, and, because the PLAYERS are being more properly assembled than last year (and, arguably, the previous two seasons), then, especially since we have a rookie HC, then this season, the onus is more on the players.

I dont think he is going to see your post

Nor does he see the criticisms on here, and it's not the point for him to see it. The point is that I'm being fair with my criticisms and opinions. I was harsh last year because of no effort. I'm happy to see the effort, and it shifts the onus, in my view, more to the players to make it work.

Hey, I get the hate but this is not the same ole Jerry type of deal. This is not a stupid trade for Mingo, or scrap heap DT's. We have all screamed for years to go out and make a splash, and like it or not he has. Will this be the deciding factor for a successful season? Nobody knows. But with the draft and this trade, things are 100% looking up. However, you and I both know this is all Dak-dependent, and this is what scares me from getting overly giddy

I’m not thanking Jerry for doing what he’s supposed to do which is seeing a hole in the roster and filling it

Pickens might not pan out, ok that’s fine but with Jerry him addressing it is all I can ask because these past few offseason he’s seen a big hole in the roof of the house and ignored it

That's kind of how I feel. AT LEAST they tried to fix a glaring problem. There's no evidence anywhere that says it will work out. There's more evidence to say that when Pittsburgh unloads a WR, it usually ends bad for the other team..if anything.

8-9 roster at best.

Pickens won't change anything just like having Cooper and Lamb didn't do anything.

Thank you for what? This trade is the football equivalent of fixing the roof on a house that's on the verge of collapsing. Completely inconsequential, just a sexy name to get the homers all giddy before camp that ultimately won't move the needle one bit because the team is built around an aging, immobile low IQ failure of a QB.

As always, Jerry will do just enough to keep the gullible portion of his fan base engaged while completely ignoring the real issues.

Not even in the same ballpark. Minor investment and if he has a decent year we will flip him for a comp pick close to what we paid. He is betting on himself as well. We paid a ton for Williams in what we gave for him and then what we paid him.
