Most likely RB to be moved ahead of training camp seems to be Walker

Two games missed in 2022.

Two games missed in 2023.

Six games missed in 2024.

If a player misses a couple of games a year, that's not much. That's acceptable.

If a player misses six games a year, yeah, that's a lot.

Maybe he misses six this season. Maybe he misses a couple. Who knows. Likely to miss some, but how many is an open question.10 games missed over three seasons is an 80% availability rate.

Again, to the very point you just made... you already know that this is going to be a committee approach for 25-26, so what's the problem here?
If you have to think of it as a ‘problem’, I guess it would be not wanting to use future draft capital on a player likely to miss games as part of a ‘committee approach’.

I’d rather sign someone off the street for no draft pick to be part of a committee.

Needle mover is already off the table. That's not apparently an option, unless one challenges Jane Slater's report that the Jets are keeping Breece Hall.

What we're looking for, then, is a viable asset to pair with Blue. This guy qualifies, imo.
Would Hall really have been needle mover? I don't think he would be.

I say go with the RB group now, see what they have. If the season is going well, but need a better RB, make a trade.
If the season is not going well. Wait until the 2026 draft.

Don't need another RB yet. Let's see what we got in house first.
I was about to post, " how many damn RBs they bringing in?"

They could have just signed Derrick Henry for 7 million and avoided signing 3 free agents and drafting 2 more

It's amazing to see some of you content with this group of RBs, and turning a nose up at Breece Hall.
I agree but I'm seeing his ypc go down every year and he's not the back he was his first season ( Jets offensive line has gotten worse) but for the right price I'd be happy to get him

I’m with you.

We signed two and drafted two.

Shouldn’t we see what we have before we part with more future draft capital?

I would bring Nick Chubb in for a physical and workout before I traded for someone.
Agree, over a year removed from his injury now, probably hungry to prove everyone wrong about him being washed…..likely better than the two vets we already brought in dirt cheap, cut one of them.

I am all for trading for a quality back if the compensation is reasonable. If it’s a day 3 pick then it’s a no brainer for me. Running backs make such a pittance that rookie contracts are no advantage for the position, unlike WR for example. I think Walker or Breece could make a serious difference considering how I expect this team to operate offensively this season.

That's fine, but like the cost of signing a (future HoF) edge rusher is only likely to go up as time advances, so is the cost of adding a plausible RB1. Once Walker gets traded wherever he's going to get traded, an already meager supply on the market gets meager-er.

Going further, think it's more or less settled that there will be no bell cow RB on the 2025 Cowboys roster. A duo of Blue and Walker, with Javonte getting some 3rd down snaps makes a lot of sense.
What I think we better go get is a CB and a 1 tech. Just sign Gilmore already. We know he's a fit. Then bring in Linval Joseph off the couch . I'm fine with both. Nothing crazy and makes us better quickly, while the young guys get up to snuff.

I think they go into camp with who they have and see how it goes. they’ll maybe make a move if they’re not happy

Of the two signed, one has been generally regarded as a legitimate threat to crack the 53-man.

Not two. One. Sanders has been generally regarded as a camp body.

Of the two drafted, one has been generally regarded as a legitimate threat to crack the 53-man.

Not two. One. Saleh has been generally regarded as a practice squad candidate. Now, I have to agree, you really have to give him some legitimate snaps in Oxnard, because the claim has been that he played all of last season injured, and no solid assessment could really be made. Fair enough.

But "what we have" is 2.5 RBs plus Deuce.

If you're telling me you don't want to part with more future draft capital for a player you don't have reason to believe will crack the 53-man, I'm right there with you.

If you're telling me, however, that it's for a player that you have complete reason to believe comes to Oxnard as the only one of the six who can legitimately claim to have been the RB1 on his team for every game the last 3 seasons... that's adding to the top of the depth chart, not the bottom... that immediately becomes the most proven asset you have on the payroll.

I'm willing to figure out something in the vein of a late round pick swap to get that guy on a 2025 roster that, now, has re-set the bar on expectations.

Maybe just me. But that makes all the sense in the world on this side of the internet.

He been injured and a contract year. It's very possible they could move him
What proof do you have that it is possible. Makes no sense. They trying to win now. You probably think Dallas will still trade Micah and Bland before the season.

"Proof" is its own ambiguous term... none of us are omniscient to be able to say either way what will happen.

But I always look to teams' local media sources for clues... that often seems to be the best evidence of what to anticipate.

See first post.
