This is why IMO the glass is half full......some players maturation process is tougher than others. Patience cn reward you.
BTW,,,how many are aware he and one other player spent 2023 T'giving with Tomlin and his family. Not saying it means anything within the trade but there good be a lots good in this kid that just needs some guidance.

Cowboys WR George Pickens not focused on contract year, excited to play alongside CeeDee Lamb

Published: May 08, 2025 at 04:53 PM

"Oh, it excites me a lot," Pickens said of playing alongside Lamb. "In the game of football, we can work off each other. There's no, 'Oh, he gets the ball, I get the ball' -- we're working off each other. That's why I always come back to, you know, building a winning culture and that's kind of what we've been talking about in Dallas."

I mean, this is encouraging. Hopefully the words lead to action.

I got possibly trying to trade him since they got Metcalf and lost a 2nd in the 25 draft, prior to the draft.
But to trade him now, just wonder why they threw the towel early for a possible DK-Pickens duo .
Did the Stealers trade him for a fresh start for both sides? Or did they just not like his actions from 2024-25 and Dallas came back to the table?

They don’t have a QB. Idk WTH Pittsburgh is doing lol

BTW unless this is a complete disaster which it won't be, this is not a one year rental. If GP and CD play like I think they are going to Jerry will lock that combo up. "But what about the cap and all these other players" don't worry about that. If they want him he'll be in Dallas.

I suppose his agent explained that not being an off the field problem is more important in his case than stats.

If he behaves he is in line for #1 money. If not he will be year to year with whoever will have him.

I think people are being unfair to Pickens. Yes, he's been a diva, been immature, been a hot head. But the guy is not a criminal, he loves football, and he wants to win.

Dez grew up over time; and if you want to talk sideline histrionics, there's a ton of similarity between what Bryant did and what Pickens did. Let's give him a chance in a brand new environment.

This^^^^^ if he plays anywhere near elite level, there's no way Jerry is letting him walk w/o a new deal or tag.

I don't think he's going to be bad about demanding the ball unless we're losing. In Pittsburgh, he knew he was all the Steelers had and the offense essentially needed to go through him to have much success. Here, I think he means it when he says that teams need to have two top receivers. I don't think he sees it as a competition, but rather pick your poison.

Of course, we'll see how that tests out if we don't get him the ball much or get him involved early. It's easy to say the right things and even believe them, but harder for egotistical athletes to accept a lesser role than they want.

I never had a problem with Dez's passion. My only problem with him is not working harder on his route-running. I think he and Pickens are similar in that their focus is on being bigger and stronger than the DBs they face and winning on physicality. But like with Dez, that will probably work until his legs get taken out from under him.

I agree. Dez was never a great route runner, he just used his superior physical skills to just "see ball, get ball". Once he no longer had the same burst and explosion his play eroded quickly. Pickens is still just 24, so even if his routes never improve he has several peak seasons left.

Story from
What I’ve gathered from Pitt media is they didn’t want to re-sign him and knew the longer they waited the less value they get. They believed he was gonna hold out eventually for a contract.

Now one thing I have noticed is they keep everything hush over there. They didn’t even know this would happen. Signs pointed he at least was gonna be there this year. Tomlin gives them nothing.
