Interested in seeing how Eberflus comes up with the rotations, and how he develops these young LB's. It's good that he's worked with Sanborn before so the transition and helping the other learn the defense will be easier!

So far we have Overshown, Liafau, Clark, James, Sanborn, Murray

Last year we relied on Kendricks and Liafau to be our main LB's, it's good to see what we've picked up, i'm excited to see their growth, please give your thoughts

I wonder if Kendricks is on speed dial in case this group isn't ready to roll against Philly.
I heard Broaddus mention that yesterday I think it was him. I think at this point let's just see how these guys play out, let's get younger and athletic

sorry, color me not impressed.
Overshown has been injured more games than has played. just had another major injury, second one of his career. he was slightly above average when he played.
James is a Rookie and looks to be a special teamer...
Liafau showed a little to be above average LB. he needs to keep improving.
Sanborn who?
Murray is not on his third team in as many years...yeah former first rounder who keeps getting pushed out of his teams, but hey, he was a first rounder.

they are average. Murray is a check the box kind of LB we traded for, because Kendricks walked.

this is a sad looking bunch. needs a lot of protection from DL, specially DTs and they sucks too.

TBH Sanborn may be the best LB on the team that we have available

I feel this is a mix of young and older LBs with experience that will improve throughout the year.

Eberflus is a capable developer of LBs, who should promote a scheme that suits them to a "T."

I think Kendricks would likely be a sensible addition who could help round them out to success.

We have 4 position groups that are collectively the worst in the NFL.
1. DT
2. RB
3. LB
4. Safety
5. CB is close if you count Bland, Elam and Revel as your season starters.
But Bland alone keeps them off the bottom. Diggs should be back. But how good will he be?
I like Revel. My fav pick. But hes still a rook coming off injury.
Who plays slot? Who are the backups? Carson?

Wonder why we struggle to stop the run each year?

And now we want to be a more run centric offense? Makes perfect sense with our stable of stellar runners.

Eberflus is an outstanding LB coach. Looking forward to seeing him help Agent 0 terrorize teams tbh.

We have to assume Overshown will be out until at least the end of November. Even then we don't know what kind of shape he will be in.

Liafau was a guy they really hyped up when the drafted him. But I thought he was inconsistent last year. Of course as a rookie we would expect that. He is a guy that with improvement could be a good player for the Cowboys.

Clark is an interesting player. He showed flashes as a rookie, like Liafau, but was a bit of a disappointment last year. He certainly did not show improvement. He is a guy that needs to show up more or he may be on the bubble by September.

To me, James is Damone Clark 2.0. I am not expecting much from him. I don't expect much from Sanborn either.

Murray, at one time, looked like he could be a good player. It will be interesting to see how he plays for Dallas this year.

This is a decent if not spectacular group. If Overshown comes back 100% it will be a boost for the defense.

I have hope for this group but lots of questions, too.

Murray is a failed first-round pick who essentially washed out with his second team and was traded to us for practically nothing. His contract is costing us $7.4 million this year, so for the Joneses that's an expensive "free agent," but I think we believe we can get more out of him in Eberflus's scheme than his former teams did. It always concerns me when we think we're smarter than other teams' coaches.

I think Liufau has the same problem as Murray, he's not a great instinctual player. A failed play by him against Philadelphia is stuck in my mind. I think it was a fourth-down play, but it may have been third down. The Eagles were going for it with their backup QB playing. The QB faked to the back, who Parsons buried. Liufau needed to take the QB, who kept the ball, but instead also went for the fake. Parsons got up and you could see by his body language that Liufau was supposed to take the QB, who turned it into a big play. Knowing your assignments, reading your keys is an absolute must for a linebacker.

Sanborn seems like a solid but limited player. I think he could be a fan favorite because he's going to give it his all. I just don't know if his all is good enough.

These are the LBs we're going to have to rely on until Overshown returns.

Overshown is a complete unknown now. Can’t just pencil him in as a starting linebacker and a plus for this defense. We have no idea when he will be back and what type of player he will be once he is back. Anything from him is gravy.

I disagree. I think overall, they're going to be better as a group. That's why Eberflus wanted Sanborn and Murray. They have potential he can bring out and are decent players already.

I think they make us a little better against the run than last year.

A lot of their performance is tied to the D line as well. Can they be kept clean to make plays? Last year I saw too much of the opposition's linemen at the second level washing them out. Scheme will play a role as well.

Overshown is the perfect SAM, IMO, he is fast enough to shadow those elite TE's. He is small enough to switch/swap to SS for special plays. He is strong enough to stand up TE's on sweeps, and stop the outside strong side runs, and he can blitz as needed. When healthy, he is an excellent player when utilized properly. He is that 3 down tweener that can make a defense great if you have the right SS and defense to go with him. Biggest question -- can he stay healthy?

Clark/Liufau -- both are really Wills. Both have enough speed to chase sideline to sideline. Both seem like good average playable linebackers. I doubt either will be stars, but both seem solid to me.

Murray -- total question. I have not seen enough of him to really make a decision yet. I can say that it doesn't seem to come naturally to him. Is he the Sam till Overshown comes back, or are they going to see if he can play Mike or Will?

Sanborn -- he is the biggest question I have. Will he be able to use strength to stack and shed, and still be fast/quick enough to get in the middle zone? Are his instincts about run/pass excellent or average? Does he have the speed, quickness, strength, and instincts to be a legit Mike? He and the 1T -- Toia will be the biggest reasons that Dallas defense is good or great, IMO.

Buddy Johnson --- he is going to need to step it up and be the Mike if Sanborn isn't fast enough or can't get the job done, IMO.

How is Dallas coaching going to utilize these players on defense? Are they going to use the strengths of the players or try to get the players to adjust to their way? Coaching makes a ton of difference, almost as much as talent.........IMO.
