Size comparison - Jayden Blue vs. historic RBs

Who was the starter at RB is time at Texas?
Winser - 1131 yards
Blue - 760 yards
Gibson - 287 yards

Split time. But there are reasons that 1 RB does not rule them all. He's extremely fast. But his speed didn't translate into becoming the 1 RB that ruled them all for Texas. Guys like Emmitt, Dorsett, Saquan, OJ... typically walk on with pedigress. There must be a reason Blue does not. Why?

Just saying, to expect 1 RB to rule them all for the Cowboys seems to be an unrealistic expectation for Blue. Nothing wrong with run by committee.

He is nowhere near the same size or build as Emmitt Smith (220lbs) and Tony Dorsett played in the 70's when defensive football players were a lot smaller and slower.

I hope the kid proves everyone wrong but comparing him to two legends is doing him no favors.
Emmitt was 5-9 199 as a rookie. The 220 weight would have to be his last season weight.

One of the first things I heard about Jayden Blue is that he is too small to be a RB1. Blue is 5’9” tall (same height as Emmitt Smith), and 196 lbs. (4 lbs heavier than Tony Dorsett. So, if Blue cannot handle being RB1, it really isn’t his size that is the issue.

Blue didn’t have the college production of either Smith or Dorsett, and there isn’t much evidence from his college tape that he has the vision of either of those HOF players. Who knows if Blue knows how to pick up a blitzing LB, or help the tackle by chip blocking a DE on the way to the flat?

There are plenty of reasons you might choose to justify a belief that Blue is not a RB1, or a future HOF player. But size isn’t one of them. Barry Sanders was 5’8”, while other HOF backs were larger.

I’m interested in how Blue will perform. I have zero concern about his size.
Maybe a modern version of Preston Pearson and no where near a comparison to Tony Dorsett. Unless the NFL rules and attitude changes, nobody will every be Emmitt Smith.

Are they the ONLY RBs who were there during entire duration?

He was behind Jonathan brooks and CJ Baxter 2 years ago and behind Baxter this year. Baxter was injured in camp and missed the year and split carries with wisner. Was behind bijan and roschon freshman year.

So, are we to determine because he is not Bijan or Brooks and split carries last year he must then he must not ever be able to be a starter? Original comment I was responding to seemed to take umbrage with the fact he won't be HOF, which is absolutely absurdity.

He may never be a "starter" but as a 5th round pick with his speed and ability to catch out of the backfield, even like up at slot, he can carve out a very good career. And he may blow everyone away and she he can be that starter.

Time will tell, but I like our RB room as it stands right now, let's give the kid the opportunity to show what he has.

But let's not forget he was behind 2 very good RBs most of his time in TX.

You said it yourself. Hes a 5th round pick.

How many backs drafted before him? 10

So either Jed knows something the rest of the NFL doesnt know and we landed this sure fire 18 carries a game burner, or he's got a lot of work to do to just make the team.

Unless, of course, his dad is a scout or something. Then hes guaranteed a roster spot.

No.

No one said he won't be our starter nor won't be a HOF'er. He will have his time. Good for him. Pulling for him.
