Are the Dallas Cowboys still America's Team?

America’s Team is the Lakers. Way more fans and actually had recent success. They receive far more support from their league as well. If the NFL has to have a representative, I’d say the Patriots or Chiefs are probably more deserving than Dallas atp. You can count the number of Cowboys fans under 40 years old on one hand.

Unfortunately we've had sons and they've inherited the same sickness. There are more young fans than you'd think. The more apathetic we grown maybe our sons sons will break the cycle.

BTW.....this is the same team that hasn't sniffed a Super Bowl in over 25 years but carries the banner as the most popular ( by a wide margin)

Every year they ask.
The fact that they have asked this question every year for nearly 30 years answers the question. The fact that the talking heads talk about this team more than any other team regardless of their record or lack of success answers the question.

America's team is so ingrained with the Cowboys regardless of how bad they have been is a testament that the moniker is their's for life.

I see the analogy you were trying to make, but it didn’t quite click. The Bears are the monster of the Midway. That title at least keeps them local… It does not ‘nationalize’ them. It’s not the same.
It's a nickname.

It means nothing.

If the Jaguars adopted the nickname "The Entire Earth's Team"...it means nothing

If the AZ Cardinals started calling themselves "Milky Way Galaxay's Team" do you care? No...it's still just a bunch of dudes in red and white uniforms.making money for a few years from the Cardinals before they change colors and make money from another team.

You.know uts just a silly name someone came up with, right? Nobody in here actually geeks out and puffs up and starts thinking Golly Gee We're The Annointed Ones....right? That's the whole joke... and we're the butt of it...don't make it easier on them and invite the rest of the sports world to giggle and put Kick Me signs on our back. Hasn't the last 30 years been enough without also playing the part of the fool?

I get what ur saying:

People been referencing Barney Fife and PeeWee Herman for decades too.

Just because something is talked about, doesn't necessarily make it flattering...

The Cowboys are not America’s team. I don’t even know what that is. They are a premium sports franchise though. Like the Yankees, the Lakers, Manchester United, the Allblacks, Toronto Maple Leafs….franchises that transcend the sport.

My son does.. and sometimes I feel bad for making him a Cowboys fan.

Of all the things I have given him over the years.. 3 decades of torture wasn't the best of them.
My boy tried being a fan when he was young. But he’s lost interest in his teenage years. He’s still a “fan” but really doesn’t care. I’m pretty close to that point myself.

Yes they will always be America's team Tom Landry and Roger Staubach guaranteed that with all their wins and playoff appearances .
As hard as Jerry's tried he hasn't even been able to screw it up they are still America's team

I never liked the nickname. But check the ratings. The Cowboys draw eyeballs. We were horrible last year and they put us in the Thursday night opener and set a record for Thursday games. Call us whatever you want but we remain the number 1 draw and it’s not even close.

said they wanted to have wash, lions, phil, and AFC teams with good QB's over the cowboys.
Also they said cowboys are not true contenders, and they want teams that are.
When healthy, the Cowboys have proven to be a 12 win team in recent history. And we have a good QB. In fact, those 12 wins diminish significantly when he isn't available. The Cowboys also win the NFC East every other year on average, which by definition makes them contenders. Now, getting over the hump is another matter, but some of those teams they mentioned were one-and-done last year. Can the Cowboys take the next step? Time will tell. And yeah, America's Team.
