Tyler Booker received RG1 reps in practice

Good thing this is OTA's and not training camp, Shotty pretty much said in the press conference that they would be moving guys around..... I'll wait till TC to worry about depth chart.
If training camp shows moving guys around legitimately beating out all other guys at their position to earn their spot then I'm all with ya.

Ain't no free scholarships at giving away jobs.
All of em need to be earned.
New coach.
New culture.
Right?

I mean that's the **** I keep reading and hearing.
So let's see it in action.

So how does that work then?
A first round 29th pick tackle was a mistake to start and needed to have earned his spot and slowly worked his way into the starting lineup...

While the first round 12th pick guard starts immediately in front of someone who did a credible job at guard the year before?

How are positions "earned" in a Dallas Cowboys training camp?

Like Zeke's early year snaps last year even after McFraud had said publicly Dowdle was the best RB in camp.
It was a mistake to do nothing in FA, then reach for a RT to play LT.

He may have a legit 1st round pick at RT, but clearly not at LT.

Not all first round picks have been battle tested. Some are drafted off of measurables and potential.

I'm shocked. I just wish out of the 20 guards they signed that one of them could play RT.
Robert Jones is a former college right tackle, and I think after drafting Booker, we're kind of viewing him as a swing guard/tackle. Hakeem Adeniji has played both guard and tackle as a pro. Sahdiqq Charles played guard and both tackle spots some in college.

They need to put him at LG and T Smith at LT. It's mind blowing. Sunk cost fallacy, imo. They've gone this far with it, so they're gonna double down on Guyton playing the most difficult and important position on the line.
I would wait on that and give Guyton and Steele a chance first. With Smith-Beebe-Booker, we have a chance to have one of the best interiors in the game. The tackles have to give us reason not to mess with it.

You aren't seeing through coaches eyes only your eyes

A study in contrasts.
Guyton's measurables/traits and combine were rated good to excellent.

Booker's combine performance was an outright disaster.
But he's a gamer.

I definitely can only go by what I see on Sundays and the All-22 tape.
I don't see all the practices.

But if one guy goes out and his replacement and team seem to perform noticeably better, then thats worth mentioning here I guess.

He will struggle on the move and in space. He is a straight ahead mauler.

Pretty obvious they drafted him because they expected him to start immediately.

In this case, nothing wrong with that.
They drafted him because they thought he was the best option they had to start. That is what happens when you FAFO during FA.

Notice how we got a guard in FA this year before the draft. 30 years later Jerry is learning.

Notice how Hoffman is back to OC on the depth chart.

I'm certainly not claiming that Hoffman hasn't been a good addition to the Cowboys line. Based upon pedigree alone is not in the same category as Booker. I know Booker hasn't played ball yet in the NFL but I think the professionals know a little something

Brock Hoffman played well at Right Guard. Scored a PFF score of 66.3 overall (68.9 run block 39th/136, 62.1 pass block 69th/136), 44th out of 136 Guards and in the top 32% overall of all Guards. Not bad for his first year starting where he only got to start half the season due to Zach Martin starting the first half before getting injured. Not bad for an undrafted player who started for the first time for only half a season. Let's hope our 12th overall rookie Right Guard (Tyler Booker) scores a much higher PFF overall score of 66.3, or else, it will prove the Cowboys made a mistake benching Brock Hoffman after a very good first half a year starting.

Yep, agreed. But now what if Hoffman outplays Booker in camp?

What then?
Brock Hoffman said he called rookie Tyler Booker right after the draft and congratulated him to becoming a Dallas Cowboy, but Hoffman also said he wasn't going to simply step aside and just give his starting Right Guard spot away. Looks like Brock Hoffman is pissed now and is going to be practicing with a major agenda after seeing rookie Tyler Booker being given the starting Right Guard snaps in OTAs.

Ya let's pretend Booker isn't a starting right guard
