Do you think Schottenheimer is? At least the Saints made a bonafide search for a new head coach. Jerry couldn’t come to terms with McCarthy so he simply elevated a coach with a “name” from the existing staff.

Unfortunately the “name” was established by the father, not the son. Obviously that phenomenon Jerry Jones relates to and appreciates.

You can make the case that he should have hired on one of the other coaching candidates as well. Ben Johnson and Pete Carroll had/has just as good as a resume than Kellen Moore.

Not many new head coaches have ever been ultimately successful with a quarterback they inherited. Apologies to Sirianni, who was, but he’s an enigma in a variety of ways.

I think (not 100% positive) our previous head coach has inherited every starting QB for his entire head coaching career.

I don’t disagree with your point but I would think most new head coaches don’t go to teams who are already established with proven QB’s in their prime. It really depends on how you define success and how long the coach has to achieve.

This year you have Johnson inheriting Caleb, Vrabel inheriting Maye, Coen inheriting Lawrence, and then Carrol, Moore, and Glenn will have to find their QB’s.

My bet is none of them experience much success anytime soon if ever. I also bet Moore would give his left nut to have inherited Dak v. what he has.

But I would imagine there are Carolina and Jacksonville fans who would sell their souls for 3 straight 12-5 seasons. Building a championship team is like eating an elephant. And just because you can’t eat it in one bite doesn’t mean success can’t be achieved along the way.
