Does this year feel different?

I admit to mixed feelings. I feel that overall the team is headed in a better direction. But it's asking a lot for everything to suddenly come together in one season. And when the schedule came out, it kind of looks like we are one season away from contending. But then again, Dak is not getting any younger. If not now, then when Dak?

It feels like every other Dallas season when a new HC comes in. People start to get excited, change is promised, new culture, schemes, etc, etc. We shall see how it shakes out…..

It’s certainly a hell of a lot better off season compared to the year before. Will it be enough? Depends how good this coaching staff will be and can the Jones boys stay out of the way.

Kellen Moore was at least a real OC here, unlike Schotty last year, and had the 2nd best offense in the NFL, only behind KC during his tenure here.

So "much better" than Super Bowl champ OC and now HC Kellen Moore is wishful thinking.

Kellen Moore got a bad rap because of the loser QB he was strapped with. I predicted when he took a lateral job to get away from Dak that he would be a HC within 3 years of leaving Dak and he did just that.
I’m not sold on Moore just yet. He failed with Chargers and was handed an extremely talented offensive team in the Eagles. He did the right thing by giving the ball to Saquon which to me was a pretty easy job especially with that offensive line.
He was able to ride that one year of success with the Eagles into a coaching job.
His true test will be what he does over the next few years with a lot less talent.
His Dallas years to me were so so.
Jury is still out on him IMO.

For me it's the Jason Garrett years all over again. The RKG crap is even in play again. We've got a tenured coach that's never had any real success in the league running one of the most valuable sports franchises on the planet. After a season where they were woefully inept at DT, LB, and RB they're entering the 2025 season again woefully inept at the exact same positions. The cherry on top is the cap eating, immobile, oft injured QB who struggles with both accuracy and pre-snap reads. The good news is that the Jones boys are "comfortable" with the hire, feel the organization is "headed in the right direction", and there's a brand new ping pong table in the locker room. Here's hoping Shotty takes Dakota out for some fajitas and tableside guacamole before a rousing game of horse.
Damn I thought I was harsh.

None of it’s wrong though.

Yes!!

They have a ping pong table in the middle of the locker room.

Now for the real gut feeling…

No…not really.

Another puppet head coach that is familiar with Dak. That’s what really matters to the FO. And they go and trade for another wide receiver. How many times has this team done that over the years with absolutely no different results in the end? Just to name a few:

Terry Glenn
Roy Williams
Terrell Owens
Amari Cooper
Mingo the Magnificent

And now…

Pickens.

Rinse…Repeat.

That same loser QB also had the best offense prior to Moore and after Moore. Lmao

In battle there’s a term called “shell shocked”. Usually only the newbies are affected. They’ve never experienced it so when rounds start coming in from down range they’re shocked and they freeze. Some can’t handle it and are never the same. Some get past it and move on. There are a lot of folks here that are shell shocked from the past 30 years of mediocrity and can’t get past it. They let it control them. To hide their weakness they become overly hateful of everyone and everything.

This year does feel different. It should for everyone except those who are incapable of handling the last 30 years. New coaching staff is HUGE. It IS different because of this. New approach to free agency. Several trades from top level talent as well as players for depth. A backup QB who has more upside than Rush ever did.

In reality, every year is different and should feel that way. This year even ore so.
So what’s the term for a member who constantly belittles other fans and how they “fan” then runs when the team does poorly?

Shell shocked perhaps?

Regardless of your condescension.

How on Gods green earth can you sit there and say a career OC who was literally down the hall is HUGE? What did they change in free agency? Bringing in the JAGs earlier? That’s not a new approach. It’s the same approach just not in week 3 of FA.

I’m all for being positive but come on man, you can’t seriously think a first time HC is HUGE and guys like miles sanders are a massive change in FA policy.

I for one, was not going to get too excited about the upcoming season bc I've been let down so often as we all have. That being said... does this off season seem different... like there is an actual plan? Was Shotty the right pick for HC? Will Klayton Adams really have us moving the ball on the ground... will we set up every play to look the same so the run and the pass keep the defenses honest. Did we really draft a 1-2 punch at RB? Will George P and CD rip up defenses. Have we done enough on the D side of the ball to at least put us in the top half of league and will our O be able to up points as we hope they will?

The offseason seems different because they actually made moves that make them competitive.

As far as the overall season I dont expect much difference.

The team is going to be to reliant on Dak & Dak is not a big game player.

Blue is going to have to be a phenom. Dak needs a ground game that carries him when he goes cold in the post season.

Unfiltered truth at its finest.
Cheers my good man.

My question back to the OP question:
How can a year feel different before it is even started? The start of the actual season and games that will measure this team is 3.5 months away.

Ok, I get it, we are in the first phase of a season known as the off-season. And yes it has been a pretty good off-season overall so far. (I would add that last year’s off-season was unbelievably bad, even a half baked one would seem “great” in comparison) So ok - off-season has been pretty good.

For me, nothing feels “different” until it is different. In other words, let’s see what happens when the games matter.

Given the schedules I expect Dallas to have the best record in the east through week 6 but as usual that has never mattered. The question is is anything different to the point you would expect a different outcome in the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys are losers until further notice.

The SB Champs are the winners.
