Your Breakout Player not Named Mazi Smith or Tyler Guyton

I don't know. Cropper has 0 NFL catches. Mingo has 60. Advantage Mingo.

Not saying Cropper wouldn't do more if given the chance, but we don't know that. All we know right now is that he hasn't forced the team to give him a chance. You could say he just hasn't gotten it because he's a UDFA, but other UDFA receivers have not only made the 53 in the past but contributed.
Maybe I'm wrong. The main reason Cropper hasn't gotten a shot is because he fumbled as a kick returner.

The Cowboys need to seriously look at Cropper's upside, especially now with a player like Pickens as well as Lamb. Because Cropper plays sneaky.

And, if you want to see a player get separation in routes, watch Cropper.

He's crafty after the catch as well, but needs to add weight, at least a little. Upper body and shoulder workouts, biceps and back would help.

Then again, maybe Mingo is a better player. I just don't think so. I think he's more of an NFL prototype, with high hopes. Whereas Cropper is a better player with some warts, being fumbling and smaller frame.

I think you see more there than the NFL evidence shows. Maybe you are right, but no team has seen him as an NFL-ready receiver. Even if Dallas doesn't, any other team that does could have stolen him off our practice squad.
I've been wrong before.

There's a reason he lights up camp tough. It's because he knows how to get separation--even on pro DBs.

There was a UDFA receiver I liked a few years back. I think his name was Brandon Smith. I thought he showed in the preseason that he deserved to be on the 53. He wasn't a fast receiver, but he knew how to get open and his hands were sticky.

Despite how I felt about Smith's ability, he has bounced around the league since 2021 and has only appeared in one regular-season game, for one snap.

There are a lot of Brandon Smiths in the league. I don't know if Cropper is one, but it seems likely.

With Smith, it had to be something other than ability. Maybe it was after the fact. Like, if he scored a TD he rambles on about zombies or something. But that was strange.

I hear you though. Lots of teams passed on Cropper. But that had to be because of his fumbling problem.

Again, just comparing him to Smith:

Cropper had 5 catches for 32 yards last preseason. He had 3 for 35 yards the previous preseason. Smith had 7 for 67 yards and a TD his first preseason and 6 for 118 and a TD his second.

If Smith can't ever crack a roster, I have a hard time seeing Cropper do it.

I hear you. I'll just agree to disagree after I point out that I'm not the only one who sees potential in Cropper.

I literally LOL'ed when I read this thread title!

"Breakout player OTHER than Guyton or ...or.... MAZI SMITH???"

yes ...you needed to put that disclaimer in there, to keep EVERYONE from saying "Mazi Smith" as their answer!!! LOL!!!!

I have another question: please name who you think is the best human being ever to walk the Earth.... but you can't name Benedict Arnold or Judas Iscariot.

LOL

MAZI FAT BOY SMITH?
MAZI GOOD FOR NOTHING SMITH?
MAZI 509 POUNDS BUT GETS PANCAKED BY A FULLBACK SMITH???

thanks for putting that disclaimer in....otherwise that woulda been EVERYONE'S answer. :p :p

Osa, and the rookie Blue. I also think Javonte will be pretty solid for us, which means you can add Beebe to the list. Sanborn too.

Of course there's a ton of hopium here.

Yes, I wanted to keep the discussion interesting. We have those threads, Mazi vs Guyton.. break out yada yada. We're talking about bottom of the roster guys.

You're right though. That's why I added the disclaimer.
