Purdy Didn't Have to Wait to Long For His Bag

Romo had an INT which cost us a playoff game if I'm not mistaken...maybe 2 times. Pretty sure he had at least one or he wouldn't be talked about as a playoffs choke artist

Hero ball. Interesting. That's what this board is pounding the table for...guys like Favre and rogers and Romo that will make the tight window throws. They hate Dak for not doing it, they call Romo a choke artist for taking the risk.

Have you watched Rogers? My opinion, best QB in the game if he has blocking. He will make the right read and throw tight windows and not care if it gets INT as long as his read was right and he placed the ball fairly well.

That's what this board is calling for from a QB...but INTs come with playing that risky-throw game.

It's a trap to hate. 'Make risky throws so I can call you a choker' and if they play safe like Dak 'he's weak minded and scared to throw tight windows'

It's lose-lose for QBs on this board. Just trap city...it's pathetic.

A QB needs to come into the job and give his first interview and tell the audience "I'm gonna make the right read, I'm gonna throw a decent ball in tight windows...and I don't want to hear about the INTs that come with this style"

Just get out ahead of the haters. Or have an attitude like Shedeur about it all.

It's pretty sad that hate has to be allowed to work on people or you get shunned.
I don't know why it concerns you so much what people think about QBs. Criticism, whether justified or not is par for the course.

Romo fumbled the snap in 2006. He did not have a game losing pick in 2007. In 2009 he was sacked 100 times, and we got destroyed by like 35 points. In 2014 Dez didn't catch the ball. That's it for the playoffs. I don't recall any game losing picks in the playoffs. In regular season, yes. If you want devastating game losing picks in the playoffs, see Brett Favre.

Just an update on Purdy's contract. The details have been posted. Over the life of his 5 year extension, not counting his last rookie year. Just the 5 year extension that averages out to 53M a year. His actual cap hit average over those 5 years is 44.5 million. Not 53M.

17.5% of cap at signing. Regardless of how his contract designed

Structure of the contract is the only thing that matters. You're just using the averages and coming to a number. A number that isn't real. It would be real if he was a 53M cap hit, but he isn't. Then add to that, the cap goes up every year. He's not a 17.5% cap hit. This upcoming year he'll be a 3.2% cap hit. The rest are projected cap hits because they are estimating. He's projected to be an 8% cap hit the first year of his extension, which is next year. Followed by a 9.1%, 15.5%, and then in 2029 a 17.7% cap hit. Those are the numbers the team is actually working with.

The people that complain about QB pay aren't focused on the contract details.

The argument has been simplified to Annual Average over life of contract, in this case you're saying 44.5M.

The argument is usually about the annual average vs the team cap at time of signing...and what the percentage is.

In this case, 253M is NFL cap and Purdy's new contract is 44.5M average.

20 to 23% of cap at time of signing is what posters are complaining about. Not how it's structured, and they don't care cap goes up.

Guaranteed money is all that matters...they don't care about that either.

I was highlighting that Purdy doesn't have a 20% or more average against team cap at time of signing

Most of the people that complain aren't nerds with too much time on their hands like myself. I am knee deep in this stuff. The simplified version is for those not paying attention, and is not reality. Most people don't get into contract details. They just go by what they hear. Saying a contract averages to X is out of context. It's leaving important details out. Even the 44.5M average I listed isn't totally true, it's an average. For the next 3 years, Purdy's cap hits won't be over 30M. You have to go to 2028 to see one higher. But by that time the cap will be much higher, making that cap hit not so bad.

Just back load the contract, cap should increase significantly in those 3 or 4 years, lessening the damage
