DT Justin Rogers is a unit

Wrong.

Officially, John Ridgeway is on his 2nd NFL team (Commanders, Saints) since the Cowboys stupidly cut him during the last day of cuts before the 53 man roster was due back in 2022. Ridgeway put up good DT numbers both in 2022 and 2023 for the Commanders while being a rotational backup DT, and he had decent stats playing injured last season for the Saints. He is getting ready to start his second year with the Saints and be a key interior DT rotational piece once again. Not bad for a guy the Cowboys cut who has contributed for 2 other teams while the Cowboys keep struggling trying to find anyone worthy of keeping.
Drafted by the Cowboys (1), then cut and signed by the Commanders (2), then cut and signed by the Saints (3).

He's got 1 sack and 1 TFL is three NFL seasons (45 games). What stats are you referring to?

I think this is kind of unfair to Rogers. He is in his second year after not playing in his first. DTs usually take some time to reach their potential. I am not expecting Rogers to be a star but I thought he looked better as a rookie than Mazi did as a rookie. I know that's not saying much but the team is desperate for one of their big guys to step up. I would be thrilled its Rogers or Toia.
This. For a 7th rd pick he was impressive and a surprise cut imo. Not sure if it was a personal issue with the old staff but he was better than Phillips/joseph/watkins last year.

He has what NOT ONE SACK 45 games according to ESPN
he has a total of 33 tackles and one forced fumble
anyone claiming this guy is better than a JAG is a complete fool

Cowboys website lists last year’s 7th round pick as 6’-3” 346 lbs.

No shot he’s 346.

Ridgeway wasn't on the Cowboys by the time the regular season started his rookie year, hence why he officially has only been with 2 NFL teams.

Every now & then a Jay Ratliff or Leon Lett shows up in very late rounds..
Yeah, but it's rare. These have been our seventh-round picks since Ratliff: Pat McQuistan, E.J. Whitley, Courtney Brown, Alan Ball, Mike Mickens, Manuel Johnson, Sean Lissemore, Shaun Chapas, Bill Nagy, Caleb McSurdy, Ben Gardner, Will Smith, Ahmad Dixon, Ken Bishop, Terrance Mitchell, Mark Nzeocha, Geoff Swaim, Laurence Gibson, Joey Ivie, Noah Brown, Jordan Carrell, Bo Scarbrough, Mike Weber, Jalen Jelks, Ben DiNucci, Matt Farniok, Jalen Brooks, Nathan Thomas, Justin Rogers, Jay Toia, Phil Mafah, Tommy Akinbesote.

Ball, Mitchell, Swaim and Brown could be considered successes, even though none had a Ratliff or Lett impact. Not counting the guys still on the team (since we don't know how their stories will end), that's four out of 26. Lissemore was a contributor, so we can make it 5 of 26.

Semantics.

He was drafted by the Cowboys, signed a contract, was issued a uniform, practiced and played in the preseason, and then was ultimately cut at the end of training camp.

Just because he couldn’t make the regular gameday roster doesn’t mean that time never existed.

If you work for a company for 10 months and don’t make it past your one-year probationary period (ie. fired), it doesn’t mean you didn’t work there.

I think they released him hoping to sneak him onto the practice squad. They needed a roster spot for someone. Similar to the Ridgeway ordeal.

Thanks for the 7th round review, there's a lot of hopes in those names that never materialized, but some were decent.

I think the OP just wanted to highlight Justin Rogers is 346lbs but he's not looking like a fat guy, he's looking like a strong guy. Maybe it doesn't translate, but JR is looking the part.

You're still wrong.

Sorry, Charlie.

lol, seriously, thank you.

This thread has gone off the rails.

Physically, Rogers looks like a unit which is why I posted the picture. That was the entire point.

Now we got every dork on here pointing out the obvious “well, he’s gotta prove it… why’d we cut him if he’s so good?”
