Brock Purdy on why he took a team friendly contract

Niners window has closed. They had two years, which they failed to take advantage of (lost to Philly in CF and lost to KC in Super Bowl).

They were like the Seahawks from a decade ago except the Seahawks took advantage of their short window (won a Super Bowl and one INT away from another).

Other than Mahomes, name me the max dollar quarterbacks in the league who's worth what they're getting paid.... and are all these other quarterbacks not named Mahomes, greedy and selfish for accepting the max dollar contracts they are receiving???
Josh Allen. He's about it.

I would take Matthew Stafford and his two-year, $84 million contract over Dak Prescott.

I’d also prefer Baker Mayfield’s deal over Dak’s. Mayfield’s contract is $115 million for three years, with the third year being voidable.

Neither contract hampers the team financially, and in my honest opinion, both quarterbacks are just as good as Dak.

Matthew Stafford??? Isn't he the same guy who's like 14-74 vs winning teams? I'll pass. Stafford was fortunate to have played on a Superbowl team that got him a ring.

Remember.... Stafford led the league in interceptions the year the Rams won the Superbowl. Nope. No Matthew Stafford for me, but the Baker idea sounds intriguing.

Josh Allen can't get to the Superbowl according to what im told max dollar quarterbacks supposed to be doing.
Gotta go deeper.

Did you watch the AFC champ game last year? Allen made it to the super bowl, refs kicked him right out.

Using the super bowl as a sole analysis of a QB is weak.

Dak's contract doesn't seem to be hampering the team.
You're right, it doesn't seem to be a problem right now. But it is over 17% of the cap. Only one QB has won a SB with that cap hit. Where it might become an issue is when some of our higher paid players start to have higher cap hits. But then they could always restructure. Players also leave, like DLaw, which opens up space. It doesn't have to be a problem if the GM manages the cap. We'll see.

The year the Rams won the SB, in that playoff game between the Chiefs and Bills, the coach lost that game for Buffalo. Allen did everything he could to win that game. But Buffalo still would have had to beat Cinci.

Yup. It is far from Allen's fault that the Bills haven't been to a super bowl w/ him.

Mahomes?

He got 263 million after having the worst year of his career….

20 TDS and 12 interceptions…

He’s very fortunate he got offered what he did.
Exactly!! Talk about a replaceable QB. Purdy has been pretty much a solid, efficient bus driver. No complaints yet but I don't see elite when I watch him play. He is very fortunate the Niners put up that much cash. They could find quite a few cheaper options to run their system offense but stuck with the familiarity of Purdy. Good for him.

Because he is a better teammate than Dak. That's why. Not everyone puts themselves first like the Dakster.
No.

Blame the person that offered that contract, not Dak for taking what was offered.

If a player wants to earn less, that's on them.

Would it be great if players took "team friendly contracts" ...sure. But that's not reality.

Reality is Dak is 31. To Dak, his contract isn't about the team's next 4 years... it's about his next 40-50 years.

I think after the Lance issue or bust they are scared as hell of looking for a quarterback lol.
