lol on ol’ Schotty changing the culture. To impact this teams culture, you must possess full authority to hire and fire your staff and hire and fire players. Ol’ Schotty has no authority over either one. Explain to me how a toothless figurehead “head coach” establishes a new culture when all players and coaches answer directly to Jerry.

The more important question is: What team was it where Schotty successfully installed a culture at, where it was missing? I mean you bring in someone like Parcells or Jimmy and I can believe it. You bring in someone who doesn't exactly have a rep for being tough...

I mean XD what kind of fool would buy into that, given this organization reputation over the past decades, that this isn't just words being fed to us. I mean I'm sure the marks on here will quickly jump onto that, and say "here is change," whereas the rest of us prefer action over words and think seeing is believing. I'm sad to say that I do think a lot of our fan base are marks instead of realists, which is one of the reason I rather be labeled a "negative Nancy" for not being easily fooled, versus as being on of the delusional members of the fan base who will easily buy into anything the Joneses feed 'em.

I'd be happy with a NFC Championship game first. It is kind of sad that the furthest we've gotten since the glory days is 2014, while we continue to see other teams win around the league, and see other teams in the Metroplex do better in their sports than the cowboys do in football. Don't get me wrong, I've been to two Cowboys Superbowl parades, A Dallas Stars Stanley cup parade, a Dallas Mavericks parade. I love seeing all the local teams here having success but I am a Cowboys fan first and foremost, and it hurts seeing no progress being made, that the team can't even get to an NFCCG. Culture is what is most wrong with the Cowboys, but can we honestly say the new coach isn't another puppet? I had hopes with Big Mike, but I don't quite feel we upgraded either with the coach.

That is the ultimate goal. I'm not an unreasonable fan either, but since the 90's the closest we have gotten to a championship game is 2014. one and done won't cut it anymore.

He is the culture problem. But I like that shotty is trying to bring the team together. Have them fight for each other. Nothing beats talent but motivation might bring a bit more of the talent out of some guys

Remember the comments last offseason from Jerry being 'all in' and what followed right afterwards?

It would be wise to take every comment coming out of The Star with a grain of salt, no matter who the messenger might be. We'll never know the truth, but I wouldn't be surprised if it came out that all this 'culture' nonsense is actually coming from Jerry's office and Schotty is being ordered to pass the word.

I like what is being said there as well. But I'll take it as lip service. Shotty really more of someone to bring culture here than Big Mike was though? I mean, the whole paintball thing, nothing against it, but seems more of a Barry Switzer type activity to me than a Jimmy Johnson one. Ultimately, you can't build culture unless Jerry lets the head coach be the ultimate power when it comes to the team. I'm not saying general manager, but you can't have culture if the players don't 100% respect the HC.
