Updates and bits

I remember the stories of Jimmy getting mad of Jerry walking into the locker room with some saudi prince or something, disrupting a meeting with the players. I don't think coaches need to always be general managers as well, but the need to be the absolute leaders of the team. Jerry thinks he owns the place, so he can do whatever he wants. Some fans that don't know anything about the type of team building that is required to develop a proper culture, have no problems with that and agree that Jerrah has that right. I think the less the players think about the owner and focus on the coach and the team the better. I mean we have people who failed here and been to superbowls elsewhere saying that we have a country club atmosphere, and people think some muppet coach saying todays show was sponsored by the letter C and holding up a "Culture" sign proves something...
Jerry is a great business man but he doesn’t see the distraction he causes. He also had one trait that keeps him from being a good football guy. He thinks he knows what he doesn’t know. Really smart people surround themselves with smart people who know what they don’t know. That’s always been his weakness

In other words, they can't just enjoy the game and off season, they have to crap all over any hope their may be....thanks for proving my point.

Like a kid going to his dad and saying, dad! I'm going out for the football team! I'm excited....
And the dad says, I'm from, Missouri, I don't care, SHOW ME!
get the father of the year award ready

;) Well I would hope that the Dad would care enough to see if his son actually went out to try out for the football team, versus him ending up playing Madden at a friends house, at least.

There is a difference between criticizing players for saying good things, and realizing that players are taught to say these things even all the way back to their high school football days. It doesn't take a lot of critical thinking to see that more observation is required to see whether people actually believe in the things they say when they are taught to parrot things by their coaches since childhood.
Well I’ll have to defer to you on this because you’re an expert at it. You could be a Dean at Haters Academy.

Well obviously you do because you didnt know that..

Can we change your name on here to gaslight instead of Rockport? You are a master at it.

Also easy on the name calling.
Unlike you, I don’t believe everything I read on the internet. As far as the gaslight comment that’s just me holding you accountable. I’m pleased you don’t like it.

I'll have to defer to you about going to find another team and see how that worked out for you last year. Loyalty is one of the most important qualities for me, and I believe once you choose they team you follow it for life. ;)

I’m a die hard Cowboys fan for several decades. Not even your type can change that.

Die hard fans don’t leave when the going gets tough.

Nice try.

Also. To respond to your not believing what you read.

It was said by Stephen. And Jerry lol. “Rush gives us the best chance to win.” Direct quotes.

Die hard fan eh?

5:04 p.m. — The prevailing word to begin the Brian Schottenheimer era in Dallas is "culture", and it's permeating everything the Cowboys are doing.
The first-time head coach has put into place a number of processes and competitive outlets for players, and expects veterans to buy in fully — including helping to acclimate rookies.
Tyler Smith, one of two resident leaders of an offensive now without a recently retired Zack Martin, spoke from OTAs about what culture means to him going forward.
"I think it's huge for the success of this football team," said the All-Pro. "Establishing the culture early and getting everybody onboard is ultimately our goal. Schotty talks about it every day, but we're gonna compete everyday. Sometimes he has to pull back on us [in practice] but I'd rather him pull back on us than us not go hard. … The ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl."

So is Schotty concerned with establishing a culture, and the individual player is more concerned with winning a SB?

I'll give the HC a chance once the season starts, but it wasn't like who is coming in was anybody's first choice. Who even with certainty thinks he is better than Big Mike. Not that I like the guy but if Belichick would've come here and said there will be a culture change, then at least there is some kind of credibility to back up the claim. In this case...
You're correct, no NFL team was even interviewing ol' Schotty.

Play terms without effect except for belly bumping in the off season.
So far, all signs show that Schottenheimer has done just that. From passing out Whataburger to every employee at The Star in Frisco to taking players out for dinner to free throw shooting competitions in the team meeting room, Schottenheimer believes at his core that the camaraderie built now will lead to the success the Cowboys have been longing for.

"I was taught at a young age by my father that you can outwork people in this business. You don't belong in this organization if you don't value relationships," Schottenheimer said.

"This business has never been about Xs and Os. It's about people, and when I thought about it, I can't imagine sitting up here with a better group of people, a better family to do this with. So I thank you guys for that opportunity."
Aside from leading the Cowboys to a Super Bowl, Schottenheimer also has another goal in mind: Build the greatest culture in professional sports. It's something he has emphasized since his introductory press conference, and although he knows it won't happen overnight, Schottenheimer trusts the process he's begun to construct and that his players will come to trust it too.
