A reminder that Dak Prescott is the longest tenured starting QB in the NFL

I thought because they blew us out in the regular season it would make us angry and more determined. I felt we weren’t prepared for that game and took them light. The Cowboys were real good at avenging losses back then but the 49ers simply had a better team.

I truly dislike Stephen A. Smith and have said so here many times. That said, I do not believe he is being properly acknowledged within the context of Cowboys fandom and Dak Prescott as the team's quarterback.

I will let Smith speak for himself. His typical Cowboys fan description can be heard in the first 21 seconds here:



It is 100% true that he is talking about Cowboys fans. However, I would ask whether he is discussing:
  1. all Cowboys fans? Or
  2. highly critical Cowboys fans of their team? Or
  3. not so critical Cowboys fans of their team?
In my opinion, Smith is talking primarily about fans matching #3 criteria. Below is what he said last August about the team retaining Prescott about the (then) ongoing contract extension negotiations (44 seconds/video starts at the 14:07 mark):



To be frank, I do not believe Smith is the right example to use as a defense for how the entire fanbase acts. His longstanding sentiment has been that he cannot stand Cowboys fans, who promote Dallas as a very good football team. Additionally, Smith has been straightforward during the past few years as far as his assessment of Prescott being the answer at the quarterback position for the franchise.

Smith sounds far more like fans strongly criticizing Dallas and/or Prescott than fans who do not. Perhaps someone other than Smith would serve as a better analogy.

Ok so using this argument you don't believe Dak is injury prone then right? Because he's only been hurt 3 times out of 10 years.....

Risen was pointing out that He liked Romo when he was the backup, and he liked him when he became the starting Quarterback. A lot of people around here remember the local chatter of the back up being kind of good. and Despite Romo losing the first game, the next game he looked good in and people were happy in the quarterback. So Risen liked the backup and continued liking the backup when he came in and played.

Ok Risen liked the backup in 2007. It was never argued but ok you are right.
 
Let's direct all this hate where it belongs- towards the selfish owner that has put his own pleasure ahead of the Cowboys. It's his toy, and nobody else is playing with it. He wants to play GM more than he wants to win. His fun above the team. He's a curse upon the franchise.
