Yeah but McVay is the exception to the rule....most rules actually. McVay is the driving force behind why modern offenses look the way they do right now. Hes been ahead of the curve since he started coaching.

I don't think rookie coaches have to fail necessarily. I think there is one reason why the Cowboys will not win the NFCE and it's their roster. I think there are too many question marks on this roster. The offensive tackles, Dak, the RBs, DTs, and players coming off injuries. Everything has to go right for Dallas to succeed in 2025.

It starts with Dak. He needs to play a lot better than he did in 2024. If he doesn't the Cowboys have no chance.

Then it comes back to the defense and stopping the run. And what about the CBs. I am not buying all this hype about Elam. We lost Lewis who was the steadiest CB. Bland has to make a bit of a comeback and Diggs is coming off another serious injury. Back on offense, we have to hope Guyton actually does improve, and Steele returns to pre-injury form. And there is a rookie starting at RG. Of course he has been hyped up but we have yet to see him face an NFL caliber DT in a game situation.

I think we will see some of these questions answered with a positive, but some I think will be negative and will be reasons for losing football games.

The eagles and Washington both played in the NFC championship game last year and coincidentally are both in our division.

Jerry will no doubt keep us a couple players short of being able to compete as he will no doubt not handle the defensive tackle situation. And we will continue to have trouble stopping The Run.

If the coaching staff has two steep of a learning curve and is not on the fast track that could be a problem .

I was hoping he wasn't going to be calling plays too. We haven't had much success (recently) when our HC is also the play caller. e.g. - Garrett, McCarthy.

I don't know about that. Garrett's offenses were perpetually top 5 and McCarthy's were top 3 when Dak was available. Now if you're referring to how bad the defenses have looked at times when the head coach isn't paying it any attention then you have a point.

Dak is probably +- 2 games in terms of what he adds to a team vs any run of the mill Vet qb/upcoming rookie. Which is why he is grossly overpaid. Boys were 3-4 when he got hurt. Really 3-5, but I will give the Dak birds a free pass on the half game.

Dallas finished 7th in the NFC playoffs every time when Dak was available. Dead Last.
