Dak Prescott's rank on NFL's worst contracts list makes no sense at all

Would I have given Dak that contract? No

Would I have started over with coaches and Dak after the GB loss? You better believe it

Do I think just because the cowboys gave him that contract that it’s one of the worst ever? No

Despite what many believe and what I believe Dak gives you a chance to win…
who knows what can happen in the playoffs and he can get you there he’s proven it multiple times (from a ownership GM standpoint)

But again me however? Dude would be playing elsewhere I’ve seen his ceiling and it’s 2nd round of the playoffs

Is that a serious question? They screwed up by not extending him at the end of his rookie deal and tagged him. Then they screwed up by tagging him again. Then they screwed up by overpaying him. Then they screwed up by overpaying him again.

The Cowboys couldn't have messed up any more if they had tried. They literally made one mistake on top of another and now own a completely terrible contract. Literally anything would have been better than what they did.
exactly. they handled it wrong at every step.
to make matters worse they use dak as the scape goat for consistent failures in the playoffs.

Dak has been OK as a playoff starter but gets hthis mantle as if he blew it every year.

Prescott has been to the playoffs four times and has never won a Divisional Round game. He's 2-4 as a playoff starter with a 63.3% completion rate, 92.3 passer rating, 1,559 passing yards, 15 total touchdowns and five interceptions. The counting stats line is 4th or 5th best among Active QBs. It is the success he lacks. And that is largely because the defense has been atrocious in the 4 losses.

He is part of the problem but most definitely not the sum of it. The last playoff game the Cowboys gave up 510 yards of offense to a newbie QB.
An insane level of ineptitude.

So you are saying.

He did not have to bet on himself or do a thing. He knew Jerry would cave and be stupid.
Dak won by not betting or playing.

Wish I could win the lotto without buying a ticket.

Dak and his agent played Big and Little Enos for fools.

They sat back and refused to negotiate and watched the market go up and up. All while the player wasn’t at risk of injury during actual games.

Then just before risk of injury would have shifted to the player, they negotiated a deal well above anyone else.

And the player proceeded to play poorly and then get injured. No risk to them of course, they got their money. All negative impact was for team and ownership.

The Joneses were suckered.

Micah’s agent is playing the exact same game with them.

Let’s see if they do the exact same thing.

What else were the Cowboys supposed to do? Come on.

It's very easy to poke fun at the Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott for having failed to progress in the postseason, but the constant hand-wringing and complaining about his contract doesn't have as much weight behind it as many believe.

The Cowboys are all-in on Prescott, as they agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract with him following his past success. That is the type of contract that is instantly going to make any Cowboys hater green with envy when Prescott doesn't end world hunger or solve one of the Millennium Prize Problems every single week.

vs overpay avg talent?
first off, don't overpay. let him ride out the last year and prove he's worth it. give him a better backfield and a chance at it. they paid him then took away his backfield.

kinda a party foul but in the end, i don't think it matters.

dak will NEVER be THE man. it just isn't in him.

i'd have said "prove it, cowboy"
and let him finish his contract.

injury risk on him now cause if he did get hurt, payday history.

They could have signed him earlier at a bigger discount. Instead, they dragged it out. His contract is a boat anchor.

Not bookmarked. It's on YouTube. Wasn't had to find.

Still pure comedy. Carr even stopped throwing to make it less embarrassing and really tried to big up Prescott at the end. So funny the way Prescott stepped closer and closer until he finally hit a target at the end!

What else were they supposed to do? Is a very ignorant response. Unfortunately, that same response was far too common around here prior to the contract being signed.

one side doesnt think so..maybe one fo the most one sided contracts ever?
The people that don't think so parted ways with the last coach responsible for multiple Superbowl and they haven't sniffed one since. Those people and their 30 year drought are clueless

Dak had in mind what he wanted and probably would have gotten that in Dallas or somewhere else. However, where I fault the Cowboys with the contract is they likely could have waited, seen how 2024 played out and then went from there. Sure there's risk the contract could swell a little or Dak could have went somewhere else this offseason with no tag option but regardless it doesn't look like a good contract because he's top of the market and had the worst year of his career.

As much as I hate that contract, and hate some of the fraternity type of comments, I can't blame Dak for this. I have no doubt he was prepared to bet on himself once again and called Jerry's bluff. After waiting until the last second on yet another extension, and playing with the Trey Lance experiment can I blame Dak for getting every dime he could? From a pure fan standpoint I dont like it, but just as a human being I understand it. I'd play hardball with a front office that hasnt shown confidence in me too.
I understand the sentiment & might agree other than this wasn't Dak's first extension and he insisted on the short term, no trade clauses, etc.. He could have easily gotten well paid while still showing some commitment to helping the team improve around him.

That said, it was ultimately Jerry's failure. Jerry couldn't make the tough decision to let him play out the contract and see how the market values his skills. No doubt Dak would have had less concern for the brotherhood if he'd been forced to seek his value this offseason. That would have been two injuries in contract years. The bet's would have failed if he played against better front offices.

dak will NEVER be THE man. it just isn't in him
That's the ultimate failure. The FO seems to "kinda know" that but rather than make the hard decision to reset they cross all their fingers & hope there might be some cosmic confluence of events that could carry him to playoff success.

It was a disgrace that immediate changes weren't made after the Green Bay loss. Dak, D-Law, Martin and the coaching staff should all have been sent packing. Not doing that showed everyone that standard of performance and professionalism was acceptable. It will take a real leader to change the franchise. Unfortunately, around here his last name will have to be Jones and the current ones have show themselves to be incapable.

Talking about the players side probably doesnt think it was a bad contract..lol..hell lets be honest the FO doesnt think it was either because they are not good at the job.
