I worry about OT and LB too, and they support the run games both ways. But sad to see we don't have anyone in the top 10, honorable mention, or even dropped off from last year on their lists. I know they're just sports media hype lists, but if this team has a so-so season, or even a bad season, it's from this right here. #1 weakness last few years no matter how much talent we had at other positions was definitely the ability to stop the run, and now has become the ability to run the ball. Team has games that you think it might be fixed, but it always gets them in the end, especially in the Playoffs when they face the best teams. Until they prove they are tough enough to deliver on this, my expectations will remain low.

only one high draft pick which has shown little

one veteran DT that is pretty good

usually you get what you draft and we simply have not put the draft capital into those two areas

They at least tried to fix the DT position a little but they have ignored the RB, passing on several opportunities to upgrade.

Noticed Barkley recently admitted he did not hear from the Cowboys or Commanders before signing with the Eagles. It appears he's taking it personally (lol)

this is why the pickens trade didn't make sense. the DTs suck. the RBs suck. this is not a superbowl ready team. and we have a one year rental at WR.... stupid.

-Agree that OT and LB are questions, but the difference is the answer is from within…be that Guyton making a year two jump, or moving Smith outside. LB should figure itself out as well. There are at least some candidates who could step up.

-I’m one of the few that believes that two RBs will emerge and form an acceptable backfield. Not great, but acceptable. I’m thinking Williams and Blue. The mistake here was not feeding the position with mid-rounders in recent drafts.

Good news over.

-DT? They are screwed. There isn’t anything close to enough depth, and it’s about hoping for miracles. Who exactly are the warm bodies that even have a shot to emerge? Two 7th round rookies? Mazi, who deserves a bit more rope, but to count on him? Nah.

They get pounded up the gut year after year and basically refuse to do much about it. Oh wait, I forgot…the Jones theory is that Osa is now a superstar because “I pay em that way.” Got it Jerry.

Can’t wait for this years round of excuses followed by another Jones off-season of bargain shopping and a draft.

Fully agree. It would have been a helluva move if they didn’t have so many questions elsewhere.

Further proof that Jerry will do whatever is necessary to keep the head above water, but not to get over the hump.

I mean, where were those type of moves in 21-23 when they had a better and deeper roster?

This team is either miss playoffs entirely or one and done per usual. Then you get to figure out how to replace Pickens.

Most fans don’t see it that way in the age of immediate gratification. They are better right now and that’s all that matters.

jerry thinks in one year terms. how to maximize profits for this year. last year is irrelevant. next year is irrelevant. so the pickens move. I said it multiple times mid last year, that given what has happened, predictably Jerry will make a splash move or two. viola, Pickens trade. it keeps interest from the fans. gets them talking. puts Cowboys back in the media. look at him dragging the Parsons contract out, although they have said there is agreement in place. so sign already. but hey, how many times has this been mentioned in the media.

and his justification is we traded a 3rd. he expects him to do well. sell a few jerseys and if pickens signs else where for a large contract, they get a pick back. I refuse to say its a 3rd round pick since 3rd round ends at pick 96 and anything after is top of 4th at best. then they will draft a WR since we won't resign Tolbert, unless its a similar contract to Gallup.

so this year he is good. he signed pickens. fans can't stop talking about it. he drafted a couple of RBs and signed a couple of names. he is generating interest.

if it goes south, he will spin it. another splash move next season. if it goes average. he will spin it. semi splash move next year. if we do good, he will milk it.

my expectations for this team is at best playoffs and one and done. we are no where, not anywhere close to being a superbowl ready team. and then all the Dak hate will be regurgitated.

also, my expectations are we will lose 3 of Pickens, Fergi, Bland, Tolbert

Yep, the mood around here was meh until the Pickens deal, then folks got crazy excited.

Were they really a rental WR away from being a great team? Not at all, and I’m sure I’ll catch hell for being “negative” when all I’m looking for is a longer term plan to contend for a championship.

So, ‘linebacker should figure itself out’, but there’s still going to be no improvement in the run game?

Ok…

I hear that, and actually something I thought of when posting that. It’s a good point. The LBs can’t thrive if DT is bad.

What I meant was there are more candidates to surprise/overachieve at LB than DT. There’s longshot lottery tickets at DT much more than LB.

Really, in the end, this DT room is so bad (even without injury) as it stands, the rest of it doesn’t much matter. That’s probably mostly where I was going with that.

You could cut the whole DL and Odiggy would not get 20 per from anyone. JToy and Mazi may get a look on a prove it depth deal. The rest would be working at 7-11. Thats how bad they are

Jerry is going to give Parsons his money during the halftime show...

They're a no show at Safety too. Probably a no show at LB too.

But don't worry. Brian Schottenheimer plays music at practice. He's a culture guy.
