The Cowboys vs 49’ers game was recently shown on the NFL Network. The game was called by Pat Summerall and John Madden. The game is worth rewatching just to hear Madden analyze the game. Always saying something good or funny or both good and funny.

Steve Young, Jerry RIce and crew against Aikman, Irvin and most importantly in this game Emmitt Smith. Smith took over the game in the 2nd half. Just pounding for yardage and keeping the clock moving. Cowboys in their prime was a sight to see.

Cowboys won 30-20.

Three things I remember from that game. 1) The intro by Pat Summerall about two trains heading towards each other was terrific. Haven’t seen it since it aired. That is usually left out of the replays. 2) The number of hall of famers in that game is impressive. I think those two teams are the best two teams ever assembled. 3) The quality of play was excellent. Very very few penalties. Might have been one called the entire second half. Teams today are not as disciplined but admittedly the game has evolved.

...yeah, I missed that game when it happened.

We were getting our equipment ready for gig that day.

Madden had me cracking up throughout the game. He was a big fan of Big Nate Newton.

I saw that it was on so I watched it and more importantly, I made my son watch some of it. Most forget the horrible field conditions that day. That game was like a boxing match with both teams just slugging it out. The 2nd half was legendary. Best part about watching some of it with my son is when he asked, WHERE IS THE GRAPHICS WITH THE SCORE AND TIME CLOCK?

I saw it, and what struck me is the difference between Emmitt Smith and any running backs the Cowboys have had in the last 20 years. Emmitt has tremendous vision and an ability to run to daylight. It wasn't just the offensive line that made him great. He was just a great running back.

One of my all time favorite Dallas games.

When the Cowboys drove the length of the field to go up 17-10 after halftime, I had a great feeling about them winning that game.

After the game Siefert stated the biggest mistake they did was to replace the beat up turf with new sod. He felt that it gave Dallas the upper hand with their running game.

John Madden, he was better than the game itself. He made the games.

Its amazing to see a Dallas Cowboys team stick to the run while the run game was actually working. I miss the days of sticking to plays that the defense couldn't stop.
