Pink Floyd

I saw Floyd in 1975 and 1977.

Rate their shows up there with my Zepplin shows in same years.

The 70’s was a great time attending concerts and living in DFW.

Attached is a copy of some of the stubs I saved during the 70’s as saw over 100 major concerts just in that decade. I framed my fav’s for my man cave.
Very impressive concert history there. You seen bands I've only dreamed of seeing.

The deal, one of the largest of many in recent years, apparently has finally concluded despite decades of ongoing infighting and bitter words between the bandmembers, notably chief songwriters Roger Waters and David Gilmour; also involved are drummer Nick Mason and the estates of keyboardist Richard Wright and founding singer-songwriter Roger “Syd” Barrett. The deal comprises recorded-music rights but not songwriting, which is held by the individual writers, as well as name-and-likeness, which includes merchandise, theatrical and similar rights. While Pink Floyd was famously anonymous as personalities, presumably most if not all of the iconic artwork on their albums, which was largely designed by the British firm Hipgnosis, is included.

I was a college student in Austin in the mid-70's, so few major road shows came there at that time... No "Drum" arena then... So I traveled back to DFW for all of the major road shows.

That included 2 Dallas LZ shows in 1975, and Dallas and Ft. Worth, and Houston LZ shows in 1977. But the problem with that, after spending money on scalped tickets for two of those LZ shows... I had -Zero- money left to buy a ticket to the 1977 Pink Floyd Animals concert. But I wouldn't change that if I could, as the LZ shows were so good. Thankfully, PF is much more generous with their filming of concerts than LZ turned out to be...

The acts touring in their Prime, with their best releases, in the 70's was a very special time to be going to concerts.

Bit of advice from personal experience -

Never drive long road trips to Pink Floyd. The music is hypnotic, and before you know it you are getting pulled over for lead footing.
Naw, someone just slipped something in your drink during the laser light show.

As popular as they are, I still think Pink Floyd is underrated. I would easily pick them over Beatles, Doors, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, all the popular 60s-70s acts.

Most of their albums are like giant modern-day symphonies to me.

fantastic album...
Revisiting this thread...

If I HAD to choose between DOSM and Animals and only pick one it would be long tough decision.

In other matters...The solo in "Time" got it's hook into me a long time ago and it's
one of my favorites kinda like the Comfortably Numb solo.

Speaking of The Wall, there are a lot of really great tunes that because they are tied into
the concept of the Wall, don't get the recognition they deserve. Nobody Home is a great tune
but an example of getting lost in the concept as it's very tied to the song both before and after.
Where as Run Like Hell on the other hand can stand more on it's own.

Wish You Were Here (the album) IMO is not to be played unless it's
from beginning to end without interruption. It ought to be a law.
