4th Quarter vs the Eagles, get that sack that forces the Eagles to punt and that changes MO. Or strip sack etc...
Feel like there's those big time plays that get extra credit when trying to win the award for the first time.

The standards for this stats.........usually sacks. Remember Diggs and Bland record record-breaking interception seasons? DPOY was hardly mentioned......

Leading the league in sacks will probably do it........
BTW.....I'm not sure voters care about the so-called late-season disappearance. For example, 20 sacks going into December probably locks it up for him, regardless of what happens the rest of the season.

I know stats are important of course. Like sacks, TFLs, forced fumbles, etc.

But I believe the most important hidden part of being DPOY is the impact that player has on his team’s accomplishments.

What I mean by that is how much does his play influence outcomes of games? Did he make a key sack to seal a win or did he just rack up stats without many wins?

The best players are the ones whose best plays play a huge role in his team’s accomplishments winning.

Great stats + helping team win = DPOY

Even if he did, if the Cowboys miss the playoffs that will knock him out of the running. His sacks have to lead to team success.
