I Like Joe Milton

Milton is a nice compliment backup to Dak. Just needs to keep working on his game, plus the mental aspect part of it. Has the talent and potential to become a very good backup QB who can fill-in without any negative effect to the offense if Dak were to go down with injury.

Most importantly, they are using him correctly. Getting him out of the pocket where separation creates easier passes.
They have found a diamond in the ruff, and all they have to do is put him in a good system, you'll have 2016 Dak, but with a stronger arm, faster legs.
It's early, but somebody has been working with him that much is clear,
His flaws are correctable.
Somebody in the organization spotted this guy, I'd like to know who.

He'll get plenty of Pre Season snaps to show he deserves the back up spot.

Tools are there for sure. Seems to have a good head on shoulders and working hard to take advantage of opportunity.

Milton > Dak
lol I’m not a Dak cheerleader, but this is probably premature. I do think Milton has the tools to be a really good QB, and right now he has a better deep ball and better athleticism than Dak. He just needs more of the mental side and pocket work

Yeah, really want to see him in PS games. Should be interesting. Along with the RB competition. Are the top 2 things I want to see. Well, along with WR depth behind Lamb and Pickens.

Milton is most assuredly better than Dak.
But so are most guys who throw a football.
Dak should love Charlie Whitehurst. He's about the only quarterback that I can think of that might have been worse than Dak.

A strong arm is certainly better than a weak one, though there are HOF QBs with weaker arms. The key to a cannon is either having great accuracy or only using it for bombs. When the cannon is off target, it’s almost impossible for a receiver to pull it in with a great catch, and the deflections are usually high and long, and you know that won’t end well.

If Milton had even very good accuracy, he would have been a higher draft pick and be considered a future franchise pick. Right now he is just an above average athlete at the position with a cannon arm. If the staff can nurture him in decision making, checking to the open guy, and making throws without throwing harder than needed, then these receivers can help him have a shot at possibly being Dak’s heir at QB.

If not, maybe he can run more and make enough plays to be a decent backup.

There are a few ways to get attention. Some are smart, accurate, or nuanced.
The other ways are lazy low hanging fruit, just hoping to draw attention, even if it’s ridicule.

Plus they should have had packages for him to get a few snaps every game plus he should have gone in when we were either up or down big.

They did zero to give him what he needed which was reps.
I dont agree with the packages, but he should def be the Hail marry guy

They brought him against Philly with a package and he ended up throwing an INT. He had six passing attempts and got one picked. He was brought in against Philly in week 16 and had one passing attempt. He started against Washington in the season finale and did nothing. He didn’t look good in training camp or preseason and was lucky to even get in a game. He was given an opportunity to be the backup and lost out to Cooper Rush. During OTA‘s it was reported he wasn’t looking good with the Chargers. The guy can’t play.

I know we are only 2 days into camp, but I really like what I’ve seen from Milton.

Not only does he seem like he’s processing better, but he is showing a little touch along with his cannon arm.

I’m not claiming he will ever be a starter in the league, but he would be the ideal young backup you’d hope for. He has no unfixable flaws (weak arm, short, etc), he plays with a chip on his shoulder, and he is making lemonade out of opportunities on the field.

I’m really excited to see him in preseason
There are some Tennessee fans on here that say he's not all that great. So I'm hesitant to jump on anything too soon. But he does have a nice tool set. With him it's mental and technique. He has ability.

Patrick Walker has been posting some clips, and Owning as well. He had a really pretty touch pass to Span Ford against zone, and a great pass on an out and up. Although threw a dime deep on day 1 (can’t remember to who), and scrambled today showing some quick feet and speed.

He’s also done a decent job knowing when to climb the pocket and when to scoot from the clips I saw.

Not a big sample size for 2 days but enough to make me excited about preseason
He’s also missed on several passes.
