Successfully running the football is the key!

Has it? Funny how the playoffs are littered w/ teams that have good RB's, but nooooooooooooo, it's not necessary.

The league has actually shown the exact opposite. Philly took off when they acquired Barkley.
I tend to agree ....... IF you don't have an elite rushing attack ( playoffs ) you better have a HOF QB and top 5 defense. Brady, Rogers and Mahomes are the only QBs who could successfully win in the postseason w/o an elite running game.

Why didn’t Dak make any incredible plays to put the game away?

Losers lose.
Dak needs a very good run game to help him. He's not that QB that will carry us with the pass. Not going to happen. What does our front office do? Not provide him with that run game.

He’s had many very good run games.

He’s had rushing champions and all pro lineman.

At what point is Dak the problem?

He typed that out without the awareness to understand what he was typing. Both Rodgers and Dak had the opportunity to make an incredible play. The difference came down to Rodgers actually delivering and Dak actually failing.

The top 2 NFC Teams last season were the Lions & Eagles:

Eagles were #2 in rushing, Lions were #6
#5 & #7 in rushing yards per carry
Eagles lead the league in time of possession, Lions were #2

Lions lead the league in the least amount of rushing attempts against their defense, Eagles were #7

This is the old blueprint that the Cowboys successfully used in Dak's rookie season that lead to them earning the #1 seed. Successfully run the football, control the clock and force teams to play catch up. Fix the run game and team success will follow!
Yes it is important, but let me do a counterpoint and this is not to say that I don't want a great run game this is why things are skewed and it's very different for each team...

Who are the number two team in total last year??? that would be the Ravens who didn't even get as far with Derrick Henry as they did the year before without him, they literally were the second-best rushing team in the league almost set up exactly like the Eagles and yet they didn't go very far.

Any other thing I don't know where they ranked it was in the definitely bottom 10 of the league in rushing.

that would be the Kansas City Chiefs to runner up, the AFC champions, who are in the Super Bowl literally barely had a run game that even rivaled the Cowboys, and they made it to a Super Bowl...

I mean their best running back gets hurt I don't remember what it was four or 5 games and they go pick up a guy off the street not a practice squad and they still made it to the Super Bowl piercing together what they had and made it work the best they possibly could and that's why it's as important to have the right coaching staff to make sure they utilize everybody on that team to the best of their abilities and maybe even get many Overachievers Yes Andy Reid's a genius he found a way to cover up a major flaw to have one of the best running teams in the Super bowl versus one of the worst.

hmm

Don't say it's just Patrick Mahomes because he didn't necessarily have one of his better years either Matter of fact the last two seasons he's just not been the same but last year for sure I'm not looking up the numbers..

so yeah there's always a counterpoint here we don't have to have an Eagles rushing game we just need a better one than we had last year more consistent more impact plays it isn't just amount of rushing or the yards per carry it's the touchdowns the getting first downs the short yardage to goal line all that is very important....

Whoa! Running the ball helps get you there but the Chiefs shut Barkley down in SB limiting him to 50 yards and that's when you must have a very good QB like Hurts. He ran and passed his way to an MVP.

OMG!! Every time I hear this it makes me cringe , You just basically used a narrative that would be almost every quarterback in the league. Just basically mention Troy Aikman and Roger without doing so because did they ever go into battle without the best offensive line and run games in football and one of the best defenses so you can play complimentary football and a one of the best coaching Staffs on the planet for both of them you don't have to answer that's rhetorical they were never asked to carry the team and I don't think they could have maybe Emmet Smith holding out and they started out 0-2 Does that ring a bell After they lost Jimmy Johnson in the next NFC championship game they didn't play well made a bunch of mental mistakes did they win that game no they lost... I'm just saying calm down with the narratives that pretty much fit all quarterbacks in the NFL fit all quarterbacks pretty much on any level..

I think the coaching staff and the scheme matter more and let's hope this new one does this But we need to commit to the run game for sure we need to have more impact from the run game we need more balance and complementary football.

I'm gonna give you example and please don't say that Patrick Mahome's better than Prescott ,because we all know that, but he wasn't that good last year.. they had one of the worst run games last year and somehow, they made it to the Super Bowl..

So I don't need to hear how good Patrick Mahomes is because he is good but he wasn't great last year at all I don't know how they won the AFC but they ended up in the Super Bowl with a bottom 10 run game and a quarterback who was just average.

I can tell you this, that coaching staff, that defense, that's what matters..

that's what matters for all teams yes the run game strong run game strong Playing in the trenches especially on defense, stopping the run that is the two most critical things in football but you can still do good things without having the best run game or a quarterback being on his game..

I don't know of any quarterback who can carry a team to the Super Bowl without complimentary parts of your team being really good..

2024Chiefs67.53,928261193.5

Those are Patrick Mahomes numbers last year if I didn't put his name with that he'd have thought that was like an average quarterback's numbers Prescott can do that almost any year and in the same situation because that's pretty much Patrick Mahomes experience with Prescott typically goes through around here we don't have a strong run game when your offense doesn't have a lot of big play receivers getting open and somehow that coaching staff pieced together that season enough to get them to the Super Bowl and it was really the defense But Andy Reed knew how to get the most out of that offense even when it wasn't running on all cylinders and it was knocked...

And the defense was putrid last year and they did very little to improve it. Tough to run the ball when you give up more points than almost any other team.
This people forget that our defense gave up the second most points in the NFL. The only team that gave up more was the Panthers. I am guessing they are hoping a scheme change fixes the defense because it was terrible. I don't believe Mazi Smith is the answer as a starting or maybe even a back up DT. Last year he was ranked 207th out of 219 DT's. That is terrible. He is still young player and this is year 3 so hopefully the light turns on.

Whoa! Running the ball helps get you there but the Chiefs shut Barkley down in SB limiting him to 50 yards and that's when you must have a very good QB like Hurts. He ran and passed his way to an MVP.
Much easier when a team sells out to stop the run, single coverage to take advantage of.

Chiefs had a legitimate, championship level defense that carried the Chiefs. Mahomes did have his struggles, but still was excellent in finishing games.

Is Miles Sanders “very long of tooth right now”?
Dallas doesn't expect Sanders to carry the full load.

Two veterans were added but so were two rookie draft picks. JaVonte Williams feels as if he could take the lead, but that could go out the window if Sanders, Blue or Mafah fly out of the gates; and/or if Deuce Vaughn impresses. Some might view Terence Steele as in danger, but I don't, because he's the best right tackle on the team and my gut tells me he's going to surprise people as he gels with Tyler Booker and new offensive line coach Conor Riley. So, yeah, for me? It's staring you in the face from inside the RBs room.

This is your OP.......highlighting the importance of top 10 rushing running game but it appears you are also suggesting bottom feeders ( any RB ) will suffice as long as we fix the O-line. You mention Sanders and Williams' success, yet it wasn't enough to stay with their previous teams. Just don't think you look at RB yards per se in a vacuum. The yards' impact on the game planning for both sides of the ball. Hell, I remember Darren McFadden once gained a 1000 yards for us, but like Rico, we let him walk the next season.

Just look at Saquan with the Giants and the Eagles, MVP type of back playing behind an elite OL, struggled throughout his Giant career. Point is, any back will struggle/thrive depending how good his OL is.

I know this that's what I'm saying sometimes we've seen this in the history of football it isn't just about the run game You can have an average running game as long as you're committed to it you can even have an average quarterback as long as they don't make the big mistakes But if you have a strong side of the ball which would be your defense and a very strong Coaching staff you can win games you can get where you want to get...

That's why I have a counterpoint some people around here keep saying Prescott can't do it alone he's not one of those quarterbacks he can carry a team well neither is 95% of the quarterbacks in the history of football all football on all levels need to have a strong team to go where you really want to go..

And we've seen that more often than not where if you you're stronger side of football is your defense like with the Ravens and the Bears the Bears you know with Jim Mcmahon wasn't all that they didn't have that great a team and yes they ran the ball really well so it is important but you have a team that has a defense that says if you can score 14 we're probably gonna win that literally one of those defenses held the teams to 13 points on average for the whole year the other one under 13 points can you imagine being an offense that gets to have that you know comfortable that would be to not have the pressure on you to worry you don't start the game giving up a touchdown and then the 2nd series of touchdown and the 3rd series a touchdown in the 4th series Oh yes shall I go on we keep talking about prescott and it gets tiresome.

This is more to go to Flama because he brought that up DAC needs a run game so does everybody else they need a great defense to go with it.

Need any more proof than Matthew Stafford being the same old Matthew Stafford which is a very good player he reminds me of Tony Romo they're exactly the same They're on the same level as a Prescott type quarterback comes from the Lions leads the league in interceptions throws 2 interceptions in the Super Bowl and guess what aaron Donald met the event stepped up and said don't worry about it we got your back you let me know when one of our last two quarterbacks have had that in the big games where they didn't feel the pressure to have to do everything And yes mistakes are made by everyone but when you have a good enough team to cover each other's butts you win big games you can.

How do you think Mark Sanchez and Blake Bortles got the championship games how do you think Garoppolo got to a Super Bowl it was their teams it was their defense and sometimes yes it's the run game i'm not saying we don't need a stronger run game I'm just saying there's other ways to go about it you got to go with your strong suit and hope that there's more to your team than just depending on your quarterback to win games but you don't need to have the best run game in the NFL that particular year but you need to have a commitment to the run and have impact plays from that run game...

This is true but you need more than a run game Derrick Henry With the Ravens last year the Ravens didn't even get as far as they did a year before without him and yet they had the second best run game in football They have a pretty good coaching staff somehow they got bounced early out of the playoffs..

Do you see players like Barry Sanders and a guy like Derek Henry never to have played in a Super Bowl or never won a Super Bowl up to this point for Henry it shows the team game is very important...

go figure...

And all those teams have good RBs.

This ridiculous idea that good RBs are easy to find is easily disproven, and rather silly to begin w/.
Actually they are at least somewhat easy to find, but the caveat is that you have be willing to pay the price whether that be the free agent $'s or the prime draft capital. For example, all we had to do was pay more for Henry. We haven't been willing to do either in a while. Let's see how it works out.

I mentioned in my opening post, that the Eagles/Lions saw the least amount of runs against their defense. When you control the football, teams are forced to take more chances as they are afraid they won't see the ball again for several minutes.

Just look at Saquan with the Giants and the Eagles, MVP type of back playing behind an elite OL, struggled throughout his Giant career. Point is, any back will struggle/thrive depending how good his OL is.
I have more examples than counterpoints because I keep these things on my mind but I had to go look it up just for rankings The Rams found a way to win a Super Bowl in 2021 you know was a 2022 Super Bowl but the season was 2021..

I know I'm being weird but I like to show people there is a difference there is no blueprint It could be our year any given year you just have to hope that consistency finds its way into the playoffs and health and luck because that's what it takes but I'm showing you below the Rams in 2021 had a very average run game and had a quarterback that was making mistakes left and right and yet they were able to find ways with a great coaching staff and a really good defense I don't know where their defense ranked but in the Super Bowl I remember that defense was awesome...

In the 2021 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams' rushing game ranked 19th overall, averaging 99 rushing yards per game. They had a total of 1,683 rushing yards for the season according to NFL.com. The Rams had a record of 12-5, finishing first in the NFC West division and fourth in the NFC overall. They also went on to win Super Bowl LVI that year.
In the 2021 NFL season, both Matthew Stafford and Trevor Lawrence tied for the most interceptions thrown by a quarterback, each with 17
