I am the father of 23, 18 and 16 year old Daughters who make me proud as hell for who they have turned out to be. I bring them up to show respect for everybody, despite colour, race or ethnicity. I teach them to respect their elders and appreciate everything they have in life. I also have many family members who died in the War, and thankful for what our Canadian soldiers have done in the past to allow me to live safely....

I would think that your years in the service would make you a better person than you appear to be on here....in the end, to quote Mr.Nicolson from A Few Good Men.."I don't give a damn what you think..."

I have children 51, and 53. We lost two Sons who both passed away at age 50 within the past four years.

I played Collegiate football on two teams that both played in Bowl Games. I played with real players who ended up as Pro Bowlers. Here and now, you calling me a liar?

Back off as race for all has been fought for by myself. Karl Douglas from A&I was drafted by the then Baltimore Colts to replace Earl Morrell and Johnny Unitus. They released him after two practice games and he was a black athlete.
Sid Blanks and Houston's first draft pick, was taken in by Gil Steinke and the first black player in the Conference.

Nice to have you be reasonable for a change, and indeed, family comes first. My sympathy for losing your sons, they are both close to me in age. I don't doubt you played Football, but you don't have to play a Sport to be knowledgeable about it; it lends insight, but that's a fine line. Don't look now, but Dallas Cowboys fans are feeling a little bit confident about the 2025 NFL season. Obviously this tends to happen to most franchises in the offseason, especially teams that won big last season, or teams who are getting big-time players returning from injury, or who made big moves in the offseason to build the roster.

The Cowboys fall into some of that with their offseason moves. But they also hired a first-time head coach who has been passed over many times before. A move like that tends to depress optimism in the fanbase, but Brian Schottenheimer has had a very good offseason in terms of roster building, and getting buy-in from his players on a new culture.

The Eagles were led by a tremendous defensive line rotation, but lost Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham, and Milton Williams; their two best edge-setting defensive ends and one of their top interior pass rushers. Their secondary lost top corner Darius Slay Jr and playmaker CJ Gardner-Johnson. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean had excellent rookie seasons, but neither was the key to the secondary.

The offense stayed together minus a change at right guard, losing Mekhi Becton. After going to the Super Bowl in 2022, the 2023 collapsed after beginning 10-1 when a higher reliance on quarterback Jalen Hurts' passing derailed the team. Hurts has never thrown for 4,000 yards nor 25 touchdowns in a single season. He isn’t a high-volume passer.

The Commanders played in 12 one-score games and went 9-3 in those contests, including a Hail Mary to beat the Chicago Bears. Tried and true regression to the mean has seen many a team go in the opposite direction.

The Commanders also lost some veteran defensive linemen and have minimal depth at linebacker, with both of their starters playing over 1,000 snaps last year. Bobby Wagner is 35, while Frankie Luvu will be 29. Both wore down as last season progressed. Free agent signing Javon Kinlaw isn’t the caliber of player that Jonathan Allen is, and Dante Fowler Jr. had double-digit sacks last year with Washington. Von Miller, who is unlikely to replicate that, was just signed.

It’s not the players that move on, but their replacements that are important. Players move on from all 32 teams. The teams best at finding qualified replacements are the great franchises.

Trent Cole is the #2 all time sacks leader on the Philadelphia Eagles. He was released and Brandon Graham became a starter. Now, 9 years later, Graham has retired (#3 Eagles all time sacks leader, two rings) and you can bet dollars against donuts he’ll be replaced with another great player.

Washington and Philly are well run and aggressive. The Cowboys aren’t. It’s why fans like you hope those two teams regress to the point the Cowboys might possibly be able to compete with them.

Elam is off to a good start in Dallas. From OTAs to minicamp to now training camp, he has been impressing the coaching staff. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer repeatedly mentions Elam when discussing how players are performing. A couple of months ago, during OTAs, he praised him for his speed, noting he was consistently one of their top speed guys in coverage. He also said that Elam was doing a good job taking in the information from the coaching staff.

Saying good things about a player isn’t anything worth getting excited about, but hearing the coaching staff repeat those things as more and more time passes starts to instill a little bit of optimism that things are certainly going in a positive direction.

All the homers are right and Vegas is wrong. 7.5 last time I knew the total by Vegas. We had everyone when we played the Saints and what happened? If everything goes right we can make the playoffs, a major injury to one of 3 players and the season may be over. Also we need multiple starters from the draft.

The Eagles won a Super Bowl in the current calendar year. They are about to be overtaken in the NFC East. It’s not going to be by the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry’s franchise is anything, but “fine”.

My wife and I baby sit stranger's kids the first game played in now AT&T Stadium. Hooooah!

The Mother was scared we were so high in the stadium. We talked with them for a half when the couple returned.

Coach Schottenheimer sat down with 105.3 The Fan last week to discuss the state of the team, camp and everything in between. Near the end of the interview he was asked how players can go from an outside shot to make the roster when camp begins to being a part of the final 53 and answered it by discussing versatility. Schotty noted that the Cowboys really value cross-training their players and mentioned how players like KaVontae Turpin, Hunter Luepke and DaRon Bland are great examples of not just doing one specific thing.

It was then that Schottenheimer brought up third-year offensive lineman Asim Richards. Many have assumed that Richards is the go-to swing tackle on the team (or will be at least) and obviously there is a level of multiplicity involved in that role as you have to be ready for either tackle role.

“We’ve got jumbo tight ends we’re training. You look at Asim Richards. He’s not playing just tackle. He’s playing tight end. Well how does he get with Lunda Wells, and how do we make that happen?”

Dallas at least splits with the Eagles and Philadelphis loses four others, the door just that is wide open for the Cowboys.
