Should the Cowboys bring back LT Tyron Smith from retirement?

In case 2nd year Left Tackle, Tyron Guyton, takes longer than 4-6 weeks to heal from his recent bone fracture injury, and the backup Left Tackles are no better than Guyton, should Jerry Jones and the Cowboys approach former All Pro (future 1st ballot Hall Of Famer) Left Tackle, Tyron Smith, and try to convince him to come play 1 last time for the Cowboys?

This could become beneficial for both Tyron Smith and the Dallas Cowboys in 2025.

What say you?

Even if he is in football shape (big IF there) and wanting to return, he's a vested veteran so they would not sign him until week #2, especially given his injury history over the last few years, to avoid guaranteeing his salary for the season.

The Cowboys have done this too many times over the years and many fans viewed those past moves as positives but they rarely worked out.

The smart move is for the Cowboys to start looking for young tackles who can fight for and earn the starting jobs.

If that fails to happen during training camp, there will likely be one or two veteran players without injury histories they can target after final cutdowns by other teams.

Thank goodness Cowboys fans weren’t explorers thousands of years ago. Human civilization would still still be where it started.
 
I don't see a reason why not. If he'll take a manageable contract, he's going to be better than anyone we currently have on the roster. As long as you don't have to rely on him for a lot of games. Plus, I'd love to see him out there in a Dallas uniform one more time. He's one of my favorite players.
 
If this was Tyron from around 5 years ago I would be all for it. However, there has to be far better options from the back-ups to free-agents that are out there.

Remember how it turned out when Zeke was brought back last year. That didn't go to well
 
Move Smith to LT, play Hoffman or Richards or Bass at LG, whoever is the better of them.
Don't forget about Adeniji, can play both T & G I believe.

Depends if the think Guyton can return within that 6 weeks. If so, do they keep Smith at LG, and play one of the back ups at LT for a game or 2 if needed.

5 weeks until game 1. But we know how Dallas is with their injuries. Always twice as long as projected.
Hopefully since he is young, he is a fast healer.

He has pretty decent just last year. Cant rely on him for a lot of games a this point, but few games here and there you wont find better at this time of year.
 
Sorry bro, not only would he not come out of retirement (there are 1,000,000 reasons), but there is no good reason to look into this for the few weeks he'd be needed. There are internal candidates better at this point, and I am sure a FA or 3. There is no chance he is even in playing shape, so by the time he would be.......
 
Though he retired as a Cowboy, I believe the Jets would own his rights.
As it turns out, we don’t need him anyway. 4-6 weeks of recovery, and first game is 5 and a half weeks away.
 
The Jets own his rights anyway, so I’m sure they’d try to hold us up n some way.

Not so sure about that, he signed a 1 day contract with Dallas, to retire a Cowboy.
Not sure how that plays into it it though. Depends if the Jets released him from his contract after he retired. Did he pay back a portion of his pay to the team as required by the CBA. If he signed longer than 1 year, I can't remember if 1 or 2 years.
 
No. He deserves better than to sacrifice his body for nothing to gain. Time for a younger guy to step up.

Heckkkkkkkkkkkkk no bro lol, i'd rather see some of the depth we have take the LT spot, he's been a good player for us, I think he can help around the team, but just not suit up! lol
