I get it’s August and 32 NFL fanbases believe in their favorite team. Some teams will be winning lots of games and head for the playoffs. Just like every season. For that to happen some teams have to lose lots of games. The Cowboys will be losing lots of games.

If not, then there was no official offer. That was merely a preliminary conversation without the agent receiving the offer.

That was my first response. Did Jerry call the agent with this. If his agent has not received communication from Jerry/Stephen then there was no offer made.

If this is true and Micah wants a 3 year deal then I am hesitant to sign him. I think at his age a 4 year deal is a good compromise. I would like a 5 year deal. But my initial reaction is if Micah wants a 3 year deal then let him play out this season and see if he can stay healthy. If he does then franchise him for one more year and then trade him if we can’t get a deal done.

I like Micah on the field, off the field I’m meh on him, but even a die hard Micah fan has to admit he does have injury concerns. Last season was the first season he missed multiple games. But most of his career it’s an ankle here, groin there, strained this or strained that and he fades down the stretch of the season. His nagging little injuries have hurt his production from Thanksgiving on out.

I want to sign Micah and I hope we do but there’s a part of me when I think unemotionally about it; is it wise to sign a guy that consistently fades as the season goes on? He’s a generational player in September and October and parts of November. But we need him to be a generational talent in December and the playoffs. And he hasn’t been that guy due to nagging injuries and/or fatigue. We tire him out and then fades. So either figure out how to keep him fresh or trade him and don’t pay him. In December who wants a beat up, tired, and fatigued 42 APY player that’s not very effective and struggles against the run trying to stop the Eagles and Commanders offense to make a playoff run.

So I’m thinking out loud and playing devil’s advocate on this.

What if it's not Micah, but the agent that is denying it.

The agent is getting paid by Micah, not the other way around. Micah is complicit in the negotiations. Jerry not talking to the agent doesn't mean that agent isn't talking to Micah.

How does the 200 mil guaranteed structure breakdown? Is it fully guaranteed? Or can half void if not on the roster on the 3rd day of the 2028 season?

I get Jerry talked numbers with the player directly, but when it comes to the details of guarantees I get why a player wants an agent to bang out those items.

Or they should have switched to the 3-4 and built not only the defense around him, but the team. He should have been the face of the franchise.

Imagine him as a Ware or Von Miller? This team constantly wants to prove they are smarter than everyone else and in the process waste good players in the wrong positions.

Trade Mitch the problem child, get at least 2 - 1st round picks. Since the team is in a soft rebuild anyway. And then go after an elite (potential) QB next year, or the year after. Regardless of QB play over the next few years.
