Most unions do work like you say. I don't think they ever get into the business of bargaining for individuals, like agents do. They'll bargain for groups. Like vet minimum. Or league minimum salaries. Everyone else seems to be on an individual basis. How would you put everyone in groups? That's another hard part. Even if they got member support.

The existing contract is in force and needs no agent. He needs to man up to his obligations, get out there and work his butt off

Micah’s not looking for a new contract for this season. That got locked in when the team exercised the fifth year option. He’s looking for an extension. It would commence next year.

The union is strict. They don’t trust owners. Jones is an example of why. They discourage it, but players can elect to represent themselves. Or they may select an agent certified by the union. Owners, per the CBA, may not deal with an agent that is not certified by the union, regardless of the player’s wishes.

Every rookie signs their first contract and it is set.

Part of employee relations is that, if possible, you compensate those that outperform the model.

This should have been easy. Just like Lamb and Prescott.
 
I don't get the Jerry criticism in this player extended contract negotiation instance with Parsons and I am not a fan of Jerry as a GM. Fans in here have historically complained about Jerry doling out compensation-excessive longer term contracts to Dallas Cowboys key starters such as Dak's. Now fans are howling that Jerry is contractually denying what Parsons deserves. We don't exactly know what that even is. I think it's not about the amount of money but how it constricts team options retaining or acquiring additional quality players relative to the salary cap over x amount of years. It's been reported that Micah may also be increasingly susceptible to back injuries and possibly not as durable as you would expect at the pass rusher position. That would not surprise me considering he isn't physically and size wise the stoutest at the pass rusher position. Of course there is no denying he is a top 5 highly gifted pass rusher in the NFL.

So has Jerry ever released a player who was under contract? Sure he has. So don’t come with that “he’s under contract” foolishness. We all know how pro sports works.

The NFL contract culture is why players can make millions to begin w/. And they make millions to perform, so of course career ending injuries mean the NFL is done giving them huge contracts. And BTW, he's already made enough to retire on and live high on the hog. And there's a retirement program, I think it starts at age 55.

Are you for the players getting megamillions, or are you for the Cowboys winning a super bowl?

Yes, and that player got paid according to his contract.

Pro sports: Works like this. Players receive enough income for the rest of their lives in 1-5 years. They never have to work again unless they want to. They get paid exorbitant amounts, which they should, because they have a special skill.

I'm not sure what you mean by your last sentence.

Sort of a grey area.

And I think they keep letting him do it w/ no objections because he does it so badly and ends up paying even more.
