Fans should know CBA rules for contract negotiations

IMO Micah isn't the best player on the team. CeeDee is.

And that has nothing to do with this current contract fiasco.

The player is free to talk about anything he wants. Climate change, contract extension, the price of eggs. If he has an agent, only the agent can formally agree to contract terms.

The NFLPA strictly enforces it, including restricting the player to using only an agent they certify. The reason why? Idiot owners like Jerry Jones. Jerry doesn’t like being pushed around. One other thought. If the team decides tagging Parsons gives them leverage, it’s fools gold.

Elite NFL players getting tagged damages the relationship between the player and the team because it makes the player feel like they are just a product. Everyone thinks NFL players are greedy and only about the money. But it’s also about feeling respected and appreciated for their talents.

Tagging Parsons will be a huge mistake. If they won’t pay him market value, trade him. I think JJ knows he’s botched this and is clumsily trying to save face. It’s isn’t working.

So if we hear Jerry or Stephen say that “we had an agreement last March”, it is a completely invalid argument. Apparently meant to win in the court of public opinion in hopes that many Cowboys fans should buy that. Don’t buy it. It’s invalid.

Randy White, Bob Lilly, and Charlie Hailey played with great players around them on defense. Micah plays with a bunch of chumps.

So why make him the 2nd highest paid NFL player in history. By the time this FO surrounds him with quality players that would maximize Micah’s effect, he’ll be diminished in is skill.

Signing or trading him doesn’t greatly change the trajectory of this team. They’re a “maybe make the playoffs, but are a quick out” with him versus a “minimal chance to make the playoffs” without him.

Personally, if the could get 2 1st round picks plus day 2 pick(s), I’d do it. The nature of the day 2 picks would be based on where you anticipate those picks would be.

It doesn't change anything. We have an egotistical, drunk of a GM who screwed up the franchise. We also have a greedy, egotistical, one trick pony of a player who played his cards wrong and now wants a new contract and a new team. Apparently , $2 million a month isn't enough for a young guy in Dallas. Poor kid.

I made a post about this week's ago, I knew it was something that had to be a rule where this can't happen. Jerry is butt hurt because Micah got his agent involved like he's supposed to do, I just don't get it!!

Idk, Coogs. It seems to me like there was a preliminary agreement in place, and the agent got butthurt that he wasn't involved, leading to a standoff between the agent and Jones. If a preliminary offer was made and agreed on, the agent's job is to advise his client and draft a counter offer to send to the front office. From what I'm gathering, the agent has made no attempt to contact JJ with a counter, under the premise that no initial offer has been extended, which has been proven false by Micah himself.

My guess is the deal was rich in guaranteed money, but much longer term than the agent would want to agree to. The agent got in Micah's head, telling him the old man is trying to steal money, despite the fact that Micah himself has said repeatedly that he wanted a contract that would give the team flexibility to retain talent. Now Micah is pissed that Jerry hasn't put in the effort, when the reality is the framework of the deal had been discussed and shook on, and the agent didn't like the framework. I'm generally good with bashing the front office for sucking, but the longer this drags out, the more clear it becomes that Micah's agent is screwing this up, and making Micah look like an idiot in the process.

There are two issues:

1. Jerry refuses to negotiate with an NFL player's agent. He chooses to make the negotiation public, which is a terrible distraction and impacts player morale, not just Micah.

2. Start players in the NFL, esp those with generational talent like Micah are overpaid, at least some fans think so. It he worth keeping? IMP, not anymore after Jerry has burned the bridge between owner and player. But as you hinted at, we are not one player away and therefore, why not see what we could get for him?

I agree with part one whole heartedly.

Micah is entitled in the free market in the NFL to try to get as much money as he can while he is able to play in the NFL. He happens to be a generational talent who can't help that the Cowboys drafted him. Why should Micah take any heat? He's arguably the best player in his position with HOF numbers his first 4 years? IMO Micah hired his agent to get him the best deal possible. You would do the same if you were in Micah's shoes.

Jerry's hostile actions toward it's best defensive player is simply nothing I have ever seen or heard of from an NFL owner/GM but I've only been following the NFL since 1972.
