For the second year in a row, a contract negotiation is the biggest storyline surrounding the Dallas Cowboys just before the start of the regular season.

Unlike with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, though, there is genuine fear among fans and team reporters about a deal with Micah Parsons getting done before the Sept. 4 opener against the Eagles.

That, of course, is exactly how Jerry Jones drew it up and his master plan was officially realized on Monday when the Bengals and star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson agreed to a $14 million raise for the 2025 season to get him back on the field. This means Parsons is now the last EDGE to get a deal this offseason.

It’s not a “master” plan in football terms, but when it comes to making sure the Cowboys lead the A-block on national sports talk shows - looking at you, ESPN - Jerry nailed it. Just like he did with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb around this time last year. It’s exhausting and detrimental to team success, but Jones is never going to stop riding that wave.

If you want a soap opera. Solid deal. You want a winning football team? Jerry is LAUGHABLE! The worst GM ever!!!

When it comes to roster construction and management of football operations, the term “master plan” being assigned to Jerry Jones is humorously inaccurate.

If the term “master plan” is part of a circus and used car sales pitch, then Jerry undoubtedly has a great plan.

Just go ahead and either pay him 100m per season for the next ten years with player options or trade him for a sixth round pick Jerry, we know it’ll be one or the other…

Jerry was either getting a great deal that he could gloat over, or was going to milk the attention.

He thought the had the former done by circumventing the agent, but had to settle for the latter. He can’t be fined much per the CBA and he knows it. Pure slime.

When he actually gives Parsons the largest defensive contract ever, he will then expect him to do things even HE isnt capable of. I fully believe he is well into the process of running this team into the ground.

Everyone knows this tired act. It plays right into his Netflix special and budding acting career. Winning football? Secondary. He knows he can’t do it but refuses to give anyone else that chance. Admitted it.

Yeah, go ahead and get all pumped for this season. It’ll be over quickly.
Well, to be fair Micah has said he didn't need 40 mil. He also said he wanted to do deal last year but agent told him to wait until others de have signed. Micah also said he and Jerry agreed the agent called Dallas was told the delivery was about dine and he talked said no it's not.

Very few are even considering holding the agent accountable. Fact is his whole game plan is exactly this. Many of his clients have demanded trades as part of the process.

Jerry speaks alot about 2 things if you listen.

1. They want big contract players at team facility for rehab and otas etc

2. They are very concerned about guaranteed money and injuries.

My guess is #2 is the biggest sticking point with Mulugheta.

One thing the agent has said is it's his job to negotiate a deal that allows Parsons to for generation of Parsons that Jerry has done for the Jones.

Everyone of the parties are to blame here.

And that’s why we haven’t won anything in most fans lifetime. The show is more important than winning games

It is really shocking how genius PR and marketing wise Jerry is .

there is no denying , business genius .

True, and we are all going to have our opinions on this of course, but I think Micah’s general idea was that he didn’t need to be greedy if it helped them put other players around him. Micah wants his brand and all that but I also think he wants to actually win. So, he probably told Jerry that privately, and also said it publicly because he meant it.

The agent can’t have him taking a discount….not that caliber of player…and he probably reminded him that they haven’t participated in the first week of FA in 12 years so won’t be investing any saving back into the team anyway.

Now Jerry expects that original conversation to be honored. Yeah he controls Micah for three years, but is this what he wants? This isn’t conducive to winning football, it’s about Jerry’s ego and wanting to win one for a change.

Per Sirius XM, dont expect Jerry to pay Micah this year, Why, it would put the Teams salary cap in an unsurpassable place. The problem is if Jerry pays Micah in 2025, over 50% of the 2026 Salary Cap would be taking up on 4 players, DAK, CD, Micah and they still and the Zack Martins contract. Not enough money to pay the rest of the team in 2026. DAK alone will take up 74mil in 2026. Jerry could simple get Micah in the room and explain this,,,but instead Jerry wants his name and the Cowboys in the headlines.
Jesus...74 million for Dak. Gross.

If you can't win the super bowl, win the drama bowl. This is how you come out ahead in the preseason. Win cut down day, and it's a job well done, Jones biys.

I would flip Parsons for players and picks. No player besides the QB is worth that high of a percentage of the cap hit. Parsons is a great player and without a salary cap I say back up the Brinks truck, but we can’t have half the salary cap tied up in 4 players.

Dak will never have a 74 million cap hit they’d push that money down the road like they’ve been doing.

You guys care about the salary cap like you guys pay it. Meanwhile Eagles sign who they want with no problems.
