IMO, McCord, but there are arguments to be made. They are almost impossible to compare because they are polar opposites. McCord is the heady type w/ limited arm strength, Milton is the athletic type w/ a cannon but limited D reading ability. So, it most likely depends on exactly what you want from your backup. Milton can make every throw, but is limited. McCord can read any D but is limited. That's why both are backup types.

McCord is Cooper Rush, Milton is Jacoby Brissett.
Good post K....

I watched two of the Eagles games with McCord. Good arm but needs a lot of work with processing at the NFL level. Could be back on the practice squad for them.
I'm actually getting differing reports on the arm strength of McCord. Some are saying strictly backup type due to arm strength limitations, others are saying he has a good arm. Where are you hearing that he has a good arm, BTW. Honestly asking.

Forgot about him.......what are the Browns going to do with him? Last I read, he was actually close to getting medical clearance.
I thought I remembered something about them being able to void some of the contract for some reason. Not sure.

Well, this is true, but maybe they wanted a guy with more experience. I mean, unlike Dak, Hurts isn't going anywhere soon. Keep in mind, they are the defending Super Bowl champs
All it takes is if their talent degrades. Hurts is an excellent QB with a fantastic run game. Not so much absent that run game. Never had success just dropping back as a pocket passer otherwise.

Well said.

The O must be strictly tailored around Hurts to make him effective.

In 2024 we saw what happened to him w/ a lesser D, and w/o a great RB by his side. He was nowhere near the same.

Unless they run the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Won't be the team problem once the defense is fully healthy and the offense producing. Teams will gladly pass to keep up.

Hey, it isn't even out of cuts here....but if one wants to keep crying, have at it.

Shhhh. Were hoping no one notices the traffic cone on the defensive line.
Tell us now who starts at linebacker and what are the top 8 defensive linemen...I'll think about a cone. That is only a tool and not a functional football fact.

Like I said, I watched the games since I've been in South Jersey for the past month. He can make the throws most of the time. He doesn't have Joe Milton strength but made a few nice throws on the move. Problem is that if he processed plays quicker, he wouldn't have had to throw on the move to avoid a rush. He is not ready for NFL speed. However, I've seen reports that a few teams are looking to kick the tires on him because they think he can be a spot starter if he gains experience. There were a number of teams looking at him as a late round flier.

Reality is that our pass rush will not be enough to make up for an overall average secondary

and unless there are major improvements against the run the pass rush will be negated anyway
