After watching the Netflix series and discovering his college ambition to owning/managing/marketing a professional football franchise as his thesis, I feel validated and certain about past opinions that I had about JJ.

The “around the rim” circle analogy is a good fit for how JJ prioritizes a successful franchise. The number one priority of building the successful franchise is getting people that follow a team to follow it year round. The creation of a “soap opera” he refers to is based on this philosophy.

The long standing beef with Jones and Johnson still smolders and smarts (mostly Jones) because Jones still wants more recognition for the 90’s dynasty. He put in all that money and effort and fans/media don’t care about brand partnering and money making schemes above on the field success. Once he figured out that was the main attention draw he became obsessed with gaining more credit for on field success-Jimmy resisted (as he should).

At this point, Jerry fully understands the massive difference between his understanding of building a financially successful franchise and Jimmy’s understanding of building a fully successful on field team. Jerry understands he will never be able to bridge that gap, but enjoys the media attention too much to basically just sit in an owner’s box.

Lots of choices come from this central philosophy. From whom to pay and who to build the team around. When to pay the core players in the team building. How the media can be used. How stories can be manufactured…When does a team move on from a core player…

Remember a circle may not have a beginning, but it also has no end.

Now where do you put DaRon Bland and Sharon Revel? And guess what, the pass rush will elevate the secondary.

Secondary holding onto receivers longer will improve sacks and pressure quite a bit.

Like I said, I watched the games since I've been in South Jersey for the past month. He can make the throws most of the time. He doesn't have Joe Milton strength but made a few nice throws on the move. Problem is that if he processed plays quicker, he wouldn't have had to throw on the move to avoid a rush. He is not ready for NFL speed. However, I've seen reports that a few teams are looking to kick the tires on him because they think he can be a spot starter if he gains experience. There were a number of teams looking at him as a late round flier.
So, maybe a Colt McCoy type arm?

Well said.

The O must be strictly tailored around Hurts to make him effective.

In 2024 we saw what happened to him w/ a lesser D, and w/o a great RB by his side. He was nowhere near the same.
I give the Eagles coaching staff a ton of credit for making a gameplan that perfectly fits his talents. Justine Fields and Trey Lance were similar QBs, but their teams tried to make them pocket passers. A similar gameplan would have helped them. Think of Lamar when he got MVP back in the late teens. They went 14-2 with basically the same gameplan as the Eagles with Hurts. Now they've moved away from that.

Hell, they are not even listing his name.......

Yes, I think CLEV has an excellent shot at the playoffs. W/ their talent, they only need a decent bus driver at Qb. I'm thinking Gabriel is the best of the bunch.

Just read, Watson is on PUP. I forgot he tore his Achillees, and then had to have a 2nd surgery on it.

More like, they focused on Barkely and that allowed him to run the ball himself, while the D won the game.
17-22, 130 QBR, 2 TD's, one Int...Hurts knows when to run and when to sit in the pocket and throw (That TD to Smith was his audible). Hurts talked to Peyton Manning a lot (Manning himself has talked about this) and says that Hurts is a cerebral student of the game, always wanting to learn. Don't know how he'd do with our o-line though.

In other words, if Barkley goes down......look out (lol)
Yeah, he's not a drop back QB that can throw into coverage. I know people like to kill Dak, but he's constantly throwing into heavy coverage. You see how much better he was when Zeke was a beast? His job was easier. Early on when they tried Hurts as a pocket passer, he was terrible.

Of course, Hurts is a football player. Played great in the super bowl.

Kansas City took away Barkley in the Super Bowl. Didn't seem to affect Hurts much.
That's my point. They never should have done that. Hindsight of course. When you sell out to stop the run, advantage QB. He's not throwing into coverage. What KC should have done was play the pass. Make Hurts throw into coverage and try to stop Barkley with the standard D. That may not have worked either. Maybe Barkley would have gashed them. But Hurts is very good when you give him favorable passing situations. Not so good throwing into coverage.

This ^^^^^^ gets overlooked way too often. He makes sure he is using the talent around him.....NOT worrying about his own personal stats. I have said this before, he could win at least another 2 Super Bowls before his career is done. Just hope they are not with the Eagles...

So true .......I remember seeing a stat of Dak being like top 3 or 5 QBs throwing into tight coverages.

The best hope this team has is that Micah Parsons is on the field ASAP and have Diggs returns to form. If so this could be a sneaky good defense. If both those things don't happen though we become very dependent upon multiple young players stepping up which is a dangerous game. Having those two play and to their talent levels allows the rest of the group to not have to be superheros and lets guys like Revel/EZ develop at a reasonable pace. It also looks a lot better when guys like Bland/Elam can be your #2/3 CBs while Fowler/Williams/etc are not the primary focus for of an OL. The ripple effect of having or not having your top guys on the field is massive for this defense.

You poor little pathetic thing, just have to throw insults if someone doesn't agree w/ you. Sign of the weak. I am sorry that you can't take simple conversation.
Roto insult...no brains to the talk.

This is the type of pickup most teams would make. The Cowboys could use additional competition at QB, and they get a solid young prospect who has been with your week 1 opponent for the last four months. Why not pick him up, give him a week to audition for you, and also pick his brain on the Eagles?

Will Grier is not worth missing out on this opportunity for IMO.
