RELEASED *** Cowboys 53-player Roster Cuts/Released Thread ***

Keeping Mazi would just prove that the 'competition' mantra from Schotty is BS coach speak.

Year in and year out, Mazi is one of our worst defensive players.
Mazi will undoubtedly not be the worst DT we keep. His money is guaranteed and you know how much Jerry hates to pay people to just go away.

How dare you insult the great Danny Noonan like that!! Haha have not heard that name in a while

There's competition amongst the players Jerry doesn't know the name of or have a personal stake in.
Exactly right.

And all this talk about 'Mazi's salary is guaranteed, so we should keep him' is nonsense. Is that how low the bar is for this team? The player downright sucks at football, but he should have a roster spot that could otherwise be occupied by a real player because Stephen will a tiny bit of money.

Broaddus was saying yesterday people were telling him this was Jerry's call. That he wants to see one more year before he lets him go.

100% this is the issue, and has been the main reason the Cowboys have struggled to put together a complete football team the last few years. They penny pinch like crazy. They avoid free agency, and typically rely on trades as their bigger offseason acquisitions. They pay as little as possible until the games start and consistent revenue kicks in. This is a business first for the Cowboys.

This is the piece people forget....its always Jerrys call. Hes the GM and its his job to set the roster, not the HC. Only a few HCs are really given says in roster decisions and its typically guys with really good resumes.

Broaddus. They human make up crap machine.

What people. Oh, he was reading this forum. :lmao:

This forum discussed that Mafah most likely would go on IR. Matter of fact I may have mentioned it first.
Then Broaddus mentioned it a few hours later on his show.

We all know Jerry is in on the meetings. But does he truly have final say so on every players. Or any player. I don't think he does. With a few exemptions.

Mazi will make the team, as they do not have any players better. Even though fans think they know better.

If you want me to make a good dinner, you have to let me do the grocery shopping.

I agree, but that doesn't make it reality. I'm sure the coaching staff puts their two cents in, but GMs still set the roster 90% of the time.

Jerry absolutely has the final say as the GM, or at least some combo of Jerry & Stephen. I'm sure he takes what the coaching staff has to say serious, but I would bet a guy like McCarthy had a lot more say than a 1st time HC like Schottenheimer would.

Yes he has the final say so, based on a team decision. He is not making all these choices on his own.
It seems to me Brian has had more say so than MM had, and he has been HC for what, 7 months.
