Osa Odighizuwa, Mazi Smith, Solomon Thomas, Perrion Winfrey, Earnest Brown IV

Osa Odighizuwa remains the most consistent interior disruptor on the roster, while Mazi Smith likely only makes the team out of necessity and organizational pride.

Veteran Solomon Thomas brings experience and versatility, able to play across multiple spots on the line.

Perrion Winfrey provides depth and pass-rush upside from the inside, with the capability to take his game to the edge if needed.

Earnest Brown IV, officially listed as a defensive end, makes the roster because of his flexibility to slide inside when needed.

That kind of positional versatility is exactly what the Cowboys’ defensive line thrives on.

The fact the Buckeyes won next season with Will Howard after Mccord tucked his tail between his legs allowed Howard to write the perfect ending to is collegiate career.

Now go look at the other 31 teams from that draft and compare....its probably a very similar or worse picture.

The Cowboys have two starters from that class plus a guy in Gholston who has been decent but walked for a comp pick. Thats about all you can ask for out of any draft class.

Philly has DeVonte Smith, Landon Dickerson, plus a good pick that just walked in Milton Williams. Similar draft to the Cowboys. Very few teams will have had stronger 2021 drafts than the Cowboys at this point. Reality is the draft is a very low probability event with most players not making it to a 2nd contract.

If memory serves i don't believe you were around for those days. Its definitely less interesting in that case. I was in high-school and enjoyed getting a look behind the scenes and hearing from the players. Totally different connection there. After watching the Netflix series and discovering his college ambition to owning/managing/marketing a professional football franchise as his thesis, I feel validated and certain about past opinions that I had about JJ.

The “around the rim” circle analogy is a good fit for how JJ prioritizes a successful franchise. The number one priority of building the successful franchise is getting people that follow a team to follow it year round. The creation of a “soap opera” he refers to is based on this philosophy.

The long standing beef with Jones and Johnson still smolders and smarts (mostly Jones) because Jones still wants more recognition for the 90’s dynasty. He put in all that money and effort and fans/media don’t care about brand partnering and money making schemes above on the field success. Once he figured out that was the main attention draw he became obsessed with gaining more credit for on field success-Jimmy resisted (as he should).

At this point, Jerry fully understands the massive difference between his understanding of building a financially successful franchise and Jimmy’s understanding of building a fully successful on field team. Jerry understands he will never be able to bridge that gap, but enjoys the media attention too much to basically just sit in an owner’s box.

Lots of choices come from this central philosophy. From whom to pay and who to build the team around. When to pay the core players in the team building. How the media can be used. How stories can be manufactured…When does a team move on from a core player…

Remember a circle may not have a beginning, but it also has no end.

Jimmy in final analysis, was not loyal to his players or his boss.

Jerry had to struggle and gamble to get the team.

He gambled at cutting loose Tom Landry.

He gambled with hiring Jimmy Johnson and two consecutive beginning losing seasons,

He did everything possible to gamble all for a top roster and Coordinators to make a winner.

Then in reward for the ton of sacrifices giving him existence and a firm stance in the NFL.

Jimmy pays his own credability in the NFL, with disloyalty to his team ... seeking out a job with another team the week prior to the Super Bowl.

No thank you, I don't feel sorry a minute for the man. He is in the Hall of Fame and on the stadium ring of Cowboys.

That’s my hope as well, but the problem is he still controls the checkbook, so the skip early free agent strategy….that has about zero shot of ever working…likely remains in place.

Good point, and he could see a similar regression within the next couple of years. Doubtful this season because that offense is loaded, but what happens when Saquan rides off into the sunset, or he loses one of his top two receivers? Sounds alot like the guy in Dallas, only with a Super Bowl ring.
