I may have missed someone. Are we better at these positions than last year? On a defense ranked 31st last year in overall defense? It does not appear to be better.

They are loaded at defensive end. Linebackers look better.

The drafts have been bad lately. And this front office pretty much only builds through the draft. Thats why they’re not any good.

Fans get distracted by Dak, Micah, Jerry and other drama. But McClay and his guys have been the primary problem recently.

I think the expectation is that the Cowboys are fringe playoff contenders so them getting a late wild card bid probably doesn't shoot Schottenheimer up any rankings. On the contrary a team like LV who won 4 games last year and only has 1 playoff appearance since 2017 likely gets that bump for Pete Carroll if they can sneak in.

The Cowboys have previous seasons of 7 wins, 12 wins, 12 wins, 12 wins. Unless we see a ton of adversity this year or they find a way back to 12+ wins and a division title i just dont see much of a path for Shotty to get into the conversation for coach of the year.
