Perhaps it's because I'm on the east coast, I don't see per new what Dallas is doing. Thing is, Birds back up QB can't play, they acquire Howell, and the put McCord on the practice squad after they cut him. Seems like a lot of work for a QB position when they already know who is starting.

Jerry has Lance, never plays him, and the guy who fills in for Dak last year is cut this year with no real strong 2nd QB in the slot if Dak goes down.

You don't need McCord to tell the cowboys anything. Proof is in the pudding.

Didn't know this, but the guy is local to the philly area apparently. Just makes me scratch my head on how the birds ended up with Darius Cooper and a unsigned agent when he played college ball a stones throw from Dallas.

He's using the leverage he has to get a new deal that he deserves. NFL contract are one sided, where the team can cut bait whenever they want. Full guaranteed contracts are rare. I don't blame players for trying to get every penny they can.

I also don't blame players for maximizing their earnings, but I don't agree that the contracts are one sided. There are benefits and costs to a team "cutting bait", just as there are benefits and costs to a player holding out.

There's a different situation at play. Jerry controls everything. Unless there's a will dictating one of his children gets full operations control of the Cowboys, they'll have to work together, negotiate with each other, etc. Stephen won't be able to just do what he wants unless his siblings allow it. It could boil down to nasty lawsuits otherwise and (in a best case scenario) the Jones family selling the team.

We just don't know what all of Jerry's kids want in the long-term other than staying rich. Since Stephen, unlike Jerry, wants a HC that knows the X's and O's, there's a chance, however slight, things will get better when Jerry passes.

I actually think things will get a lot better. Why? Subtract Jerry's meddling. There hasn't been signs that his kids will handle the team as he does, and lots of signs that they won't.

If he was good he would have been drafted and would have at least made the 53 man roster. He passed through waivers and the Titans were able to sign him to the practice squad. 5’10 and sloooow. That can cut it in college but in the NFL if you are going to be small then you at least have to be able to outrun an offensive lineman. He will be in the UFL in a couple of years.

I would have liked to see him extended. I'm sure I'm not alone. But lets keep in mind that nobody did anything bad to Parsons. A tag would suck, but that's not the case yet. Byron Jones played through his 5th year option, and we didn't see him whining. No one is entitled to an extension.

That makes sense, because otherwise it becomes a huge issue of compensation and accrued time.

See, that's where we differ. I honestly don't care. Don't care if they pay him what he wants. Don't care if they trade him.

I don't even care if he sits all season other than I won't enjoy hearing both sides whine (and yes, it's both sides) about it all off-season.

The truth is we have no idea what the hold-up is. The per-year money may be the one thing they agree on. Cowboys probably want 5 years for cap purposes and Micah probably wants 4 years because the cap will likely inrease dramatically and every year he signs for will ultimatley cost him money.

I don't blame the Cowboys nor do I blame Micah and his agent.

If he sits out, Micah will more than make up the money he loses this year with next year's contract with the Cowboys or another team because the salary cap has been increasing a lot in recent years.

Right now, $14 million is an extra $3.5 million per year over 4 years or $2.8 million over 5 years.

The salary cap increased by $24 million from 2024 to 2025, so that will will be easily covered by a new 4/5 year contract that starts in 2026.

I think Jerry's ego took a hit with the publicly perception he lost negotations with Prescott and Lamb and now he's trying to make up for it by trying to "win" against Micah.

The bottom line is if you think there is a "good" side in this negotation, you are simply projecting your own biases.

There are no "good" sides in the NFL .. the owners and players always fight for every dollar they can get.

Micah is playing a dangerous game. I'm starting to split the blame 50-50 between Parsons and Jerry. When I used to blame it all on Jerry.

That is incorrect. Micah does not have to play. He does not have to honor anything. He can sit out the next 2 years.

I didn't say he had to play. There are options for him under the contract. I said he was bound by the terms, whereas the team can cut bait.

Micah's money only comes second to his legacy. There is no way Micah misses more than 2 games.

Only potential compromise I could see coming is they agree to a small pay increase this season.

Maybe increase his base to $30M for this year and Re-evaluate at the end of the season.

Maybe that is a truce that they need for the time being.
