I don't know what the retention rate is after 4 years for a given player staying with the same team, but seeing that other than a 1st round pick their contract is only 4 years that's not too surprising. They atleast got 2 hits in this draft and Gholston and Israel contributed some snaps. I'm probably more concerned about the 2023 draft, where only Overshown looks like a guy to retain that actually makes plays. With seven picks in the first four rounds, the team had a chance to build a strong foundation, like the 1975 and 2005 drafts. Instead, only two remain. Too many busts.

100%, he may have one or two more good years before I suspect injuries will start racking up and his play starts declining. Do you really want to be stuck paying him 40m as his body breaks down bc you kept sending him at 320 lbs OTs?Hes also undersized and is breaking down.
If some team has offered at least two 1sts and willing to give him the contract he wants, Jethro should be pulling the trigger.
I dont think he is any better than Blue or Mafah.Damien Martinez got cut by Seattle. Go get him please.
Oh I agree week 1 doesn't look greatI'm not seeing it. As of week 1, We are void of a viable starter opposite Bland. We have now cut our projected slot cb as well lol. We are in trouble as of today.
… I remember that Mary, that was really ***** up. It happened right in front of Sea coach. And the jerk celebrated too.Not by a Dallas player, but a Dallas player was on the receiving end. When that WR (Tate, I think), knocked the crap out of Sean Lee!!
The last time I can remember the Packers trading a round 1-5 pick for any NFL player was in about 2003 (a 2nd round pick sent to Philly for CB & former Cowboy defensive coach for Al Harris).source is a guy on X
of course the Packers have interest, so do 30 other teams.
They're only cheap for 4 years...With seven picks in the first four rounds, the team had a chance to build a strong foundation, like the 1975 and 2005 drafts. Instead, only two remain. Too many busts.

Exactly, the Jerry circus will hold little weight in the media cycle due to boring redundancy and multiple NFL storylines about actual football. He'll be signed within a week. With the season starting it's not as interesting a story anymore
no he's not, but he was never a child like Micah is being...how could we sign Micah now and actually trust that he gives a damn? He's not worth QB money.
This is exactly why fans shouldn't panic. Carson will be back at some point.CB is pretty deep for Dallas, just a little banged up at the moment. Come mid season, if Revel is what they think he could be - it'd be the deepest spot on the team talent wise
Sorry Bob, but having a good running game has always been and will always be critical to any team winning the championship.Effective NFL offenses evolve. This league became a mostly pass oriented league the last 25 years. Pass heavy offenses featuring high percentage passes that make the QB, WR, and TE positions much more valuable had become the coin of the realm over the last 2-3 decades.
But things have changed. Defenses have evolved too over the years to where pass coverage has become easier to master. Good defenses evolved to where great pass rushes and pass coverage became gold. BUT….Things have evolved again.
So how do you challenge a defense today?
It’s not a mystery. In 2025, having a quality running game capable of making defenses fear what it can do gives your QB and offense a chance to be good.
- By having a running game capable of punishing defenses that cheat their safeties back to stop the intermediate pass and deep pass.
- If an offense does not have a RB who forces safeties (and maybe LBs as well) to respect the run, it puts all the pressure on the QB to carry the offense. There may be 2 QBs in the NFL that can carry a team by himself.
- By possessing a below average running game, the Cowboys are set up to depend too much on a 32 year old good but not great QB who has always played best with a strong running game.
Without wearing blue fan glasses, I’m not seeing a running back on this roster that makes defensive coordinators respect the run. Until we do get someone that can put fear in a defense, I cannot expect deep playoff runs. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong. Hope so.
We were also primed for a superbowl run.Seeing Emmitt Smith references here but there was one slight difference.
Emmitt was a restricted free agent during his 1993 holdout. If Emmitt wanted to, he could have entertained offers from other teams. But his hands were tied because every other team just assumed Jerry would match the offer anyway; so they didn't bother. So it was basically a Smith-Jones stare down where no other team would get involved.
Now it seems other teams do want to at least throw some bait at the Cowboys for Micah.
