I am ok with this deal but history says teams don't turn that 2 1st rders into good players but 47 million is a lot.

Nah. The best way to make this deal pay off is to use the picks to move up, especially for a franchise QB. If Dallas used all four picks and came away with the next franchise QB, then the Cowboys won this trade. If they stand pat and draft another Mazi Smith or Taco Charlton, then they lost the trade badly. Even if they use the picks to trade up into the top 10 twice for elite non-QBs, they stand a chance to win but there's risk involved there.

In the 90's Jimmy Johnson had full control over football operations, it was in his contract. This is why Jimmy agreed to coach the Cowboys, he could have gone anywhere he chose.

Jerry was only responsible for signing checks and negotiating contracts.

Yes, Jimmy Johnson had full control by the words in his contract, but Jerry never let him have full control. Jerry wanted to help choose and decide on which players to draft and pick up in free agency. And THAT was the issue. Jimmy felt like Jerry was not honoring the contract...and Jerry's perspective was, and still is, that coaches have a lot of say over the players, but Jerry's still not just signing checks, as he's the Final Decision-Maker on all key players. Mid-level players and bench players, Jerry will let the HC decide those (like Jimmy was able to fire a player on the spot, because it was a mid-level player). But any impactful, key player, Jerry gets the last word.

Thus, in Jerry's mind, WE are building the best team, not just the coach.

Not that I think that this is best for the team, but it certainly the way it is, no matter what's said in the contract....which is why Parcells didn't stay too long. He saw how things were handled, and Parcells (nor Jimmy) were cut out to deal with Jerry, not for long.

He said the Cowboys feel. He didn't say No-Schott and Eberflus feel that way. The Cowboys (i.e. Joneses) think the coaches can scheme pressure, when coaches will tell you that there's no substitute for talent.

If that is the case why try and get elite players then? SMH. I was okay with moving Micah but I wanted more. Maybe another 2 and a 3 at least.

Who else is going to trade for someone due a massive contract extension? No team who will be at the top of the draft is doing this trade. That's what the Jones clown show gets for waiting this long. They got desperate as time went on. This was as good as you were going to get a week before the season.

Total B.S. to anybody that was there at the time and paid attention.

Jerry jones did not have final say and when he began violating his agreement is when Jimmy decided to walk. he knew he could not succeed with Jerry's interference.

Before the internet gained in popularity, before YouTube took off, fans would soak every piece of information they could find from magazines, news reports, Dallas Cowboys Weekly, and weekly newspaper columns. I soaked up every piece of information i could find.

Jerry Jones was considered a joke the moment he got there, saying ridiculous things.

Common sense was enough to reason that the guy with all the answers and reasons, the guy whose college team had just won a national championship, the guy who recruited 28 high school players to make it to the NFL draft was teh guy that built this team.

The way to tell if Jerry was involved was when things got screwed up, like Emmitt's contract holdout in 1993, pure Jerry.

Jerry was an envious of Jimmy rightfully getting the attention he deserved. Jerry swore that he would never give a HC the power he gave Jimmy.

What power do you think he was talking about?

Jerry absolutely did NOT have final say in football related decisions other than contract negotiations prior to 1994.

That said, and as was evident even in the infancy of his career (despite the protests of those who proclaimed that "Micah can do anything he wants!"), the guy predictably became an aggressive, metastatic cancer on this team and had to go.

I just hope the consideration for the trade can & will be parlayed into something resulting in net improvement.

He grew up in Harrisburg, PA. Believe me, Green Bay is quite a step up.

Real desperate for 2 first round picks for two straight years and a DT 3 time Pro Bowl about only to turn 30 in October. Not curb quarter tossing stuff there.
