Dallas Ranked 1 in Offense and Dead last in Defense

Aka 2014. Remember how we looked back then? We can win games like that. We need to. Keep our defense off the field.
I’d like it to be like 2014, minus the Dez catch fiasco. I’m afraid it’s more like 2013 and we’re replaying that shootout against the Broncos over and over.

this defense just can't make a stop. every team is thinking 4 downs, because the defense is going to give up a big play. it was frustrating to watch. they make 2 plays and then give up a big play. drive after drive. 1st down after 1st down.

this is not a playoff calibur team. they live and die by the offense to have a chance to even be in a game. if the offense has a slow day, we are cooked. Chicago game was a great example.
Watch what happens, we will spend more money on offense next season, by resigning Pickens.

Hopefully best players available line up with our defensive needs in the draft.

Through four weeks, the Cowboys have the #1 offense in the NFL at 404.3 yards per game. But they also have the worst defense, ranked 32nd, giving up 420.5 yards per game.

I think Dallas would be a top 5 team if defense was at 50%.

Wow that’s amazing to be 1 somewhere and 32 opposite side of the ball.

Said during the off season that the Cowboys offense should have no problem putting up big numbers with Pickens, Lamb, and Ferg. Dak should have great numbers. Also said the OL wouldn't be as bad as everyone expected but was not happy with the RB situation however, that has proven me wrong lately. I believe through the first 3 weeks Dallas led the league in yards before contact.

Now I knew the defense was going to be bad but did not expect it to be this horrendous.

The only thing that worries me with the offense is that Dak is a very streaky QB for the majority of his career. Will play MVP level for a few games then look pedestrian for a couple and repeat.
Yes, his career numbers are very pedestrian.

We have to HOPE Overshown comes back and is the impactful player he was before his second terrible injury. BTW this defense remind me of when we had Mike Nolan lol. Just terrible.
Kind of reminds me of Zimmer's defense last year early on. That defense had several injuries and played better when a few of them (particularly Parsons') got sorted, and when the team started to settle into what Zimmer wanted it to do. I guess this year, we have to hope that the players settle into it because it doesn't look like Eberflus is going to adjust much.

I wonder what the stats are in the first half? I wonder what sats arer avaible to show the offense HELPS the defense, espcially early on.

It's one thing to score a lot of points and yards in the game. It's another to do it early.

There HAS to be apps...er... stats for that.

They're splitting hairs We probably have a better record if our defense was better and we didn't have to go into overtime Y you have to have a bigger picture perspective the rankings you are who you are just like your record you are who you are and unfortunately our defense is by far the worst part of our team and yes the offense has had a couple struggles with drops and a couple fumbles but they are a very good group especially when Lamb gets back and the fact that we've been playing with backup offensive lineman and some of that play calling I wouldn't even count the first quarter of this last game did you see that basically they were playing to punt I don't know what they were thinking..
You have to think we'd be 2-2 based on how the offense played. We weren't going to beat Philly with 20 points or Chicago with 14 unless our defense was top 10.

This might be a unique occurrence after 4 games not only for Dallas, but for the entire league. Somebody like Bob Sturm who knows the Free Masonic handshakes and passwords to the advanced research databases should look into it.
Had too give you a like for a rare Free Mason's reference. Don't see that here often!

That's not how I look at it you you can't understand the ebbs and flow of the game but if the score didn't get out of control the Cowboys could have came back or stayed in it the 14 points does seem like uh oh they couldn't have won but dude that's not how it would work if the score would have stay down a little longer They could have made up for them early mistakes you know the fumble the that came off Pickens hands You know the interception I mean these things all add up but I believe if they didn't feel the defense was never gonna make a stop the offense can play a different strategy that's the problem here they're always under pressure to have to perform perfectly or they lose that is not a good concept..

Looking over there watching their defense giving up all those early points they're starting to feel that pressure the Dolphins is thinking 0 we need to do too much then they start to press that's what happens so you're right the 14 wouldn't have won the game but I believe if it would have been a different type of game they would have you can't expect the Giants and the Packers game for the offense to always perform that way it's insane to ask them to keep scoring that much but yes 14 was a low score but I believe it only because of the mistakes the early fumble then Lamb goes out Things just started **** but I don't think they would have stayed playing like that on offense had the defense kept the score down...

I mean they did tie the game 14-14 but then you go look at the mistakes that kept happening The offense is looking over there going we're never going to catch up it's called pressing doing too much that's when mistakes happen.. Have a little bit more relaxed mentality if the defense would just play better in games like that yes the winnable games we should have beat the Bears but it's snowballed It's sad..

I get what you're saying but once again the defense in the first half of that game gave up 21 points in the Eagles game so they already lost But why can't we win a game with 20 points the Browns did it they beat the freaking Packers 13 to 10 that's what a defense looks like that's what a defense says to the offense you don't have to press you get that right yes you can beat the Eagles with 20 points if your defense is better And yes sometimes you can win a game with 14 points I just noted it go look around the league Sometimes there is low scoring games that's what defense looks like I think we're so desensitized to the fact that we think happened to score 27 or more is normal that's not normal Holding teams under 20 points would be very normal most good defenses should hold teams under 20 points..

The game stays low scoring you follow me then the office don't press and these games unfold differently the story is not the same if it's written with better defense from the start..

At least we are not Baltimore they had SB aspirations but like Dallas can't stop a toddler on a tricycle. :muttley:
The defense can wet the bed though......does that count?

If that doesn't. Jerry probably filled his diapers twice last night, with it going into overtime

the draft needs to be defense defense and more defense.

that's why I didn't like the Booker pick. he is a great player and perhaps will be. but we scored 37 with Bass....RG is not the reason you win in the NFL. defense is. I would have rather over drafted a good defensive player at 12 than take booker. again, he may be a great guard, but its the least important position on offense.

I disagree. We have had a poor run game and we need to keep a veteran QB healthy. Depth on the OLine, as well as keeping your D off the field, is critical to team success.

Our lopsidedness on spending 60% of the cap on offense is a big factor.

I can only image we will resign and spend more money at RB and WR, only increasing the gap spent between the two.

We over drafted Mazi.

This stat is skewed because the Cowboys have had two overtime games.

Last night at home and hosting the GB Packers, that Cowboys' team proved how devotedly tough they're willing to play for Brian Schottenheimer as their head coaching leader. They played their butts off, despite having to deal with injuries against a more generously talented team as their opponents. Here's hoping it continues to be his calling card in the games that remain this year.

Yes, this game ended in a tie, but they showed that they were willing to put forth their best efforts possible, despite being decimated with injuries to some of their most talented players. They came through with their best energies when it counted the most. I've gotta admit, it's encouraging.

Schottty, as he's known by those approving of his friendly persona, proved he's capable of being one to promote the best play from the talent that he has available. Here's hoping that's just one of the many indications we'll see coming to light as this season continues. I'm seeing a very legit HC in him.

so poor decisions on RBs lead to drafting a RG in top of the draft to protect the QB instead of a defensive player...wouldn't it make sense to draft a good RB or sign a good one in FA as they were available. one poor decision leading to other poor decisions. and the results? we score 40 points and no win (yeah yeah yeah, and no loss).

and we had Bass in there and gave up an iffy, ticky tacky sack.....

Eagles spent a lot on Offense as well. very lopsided. but they have loaded on defense in draft. in fact this past draft coming of superbowl win, their first top 5 picks was defense.
so its not unusual to spend on one side more than the other. depends on timing and availability of players.

we drafted a RG in top 12!!! a freaking RG...I don't care how good he is and if he is future HOFer....tell me the names of the guards for the past 5 superbowl teams? without googling....

you don't win championships because of RG.

You are assuming the RB fixes the problem by themselves.

Poor decision was give Martin more money, when he should have been traded.
