Micah abused our OL

I said nothing about getting to the QB .. The win rate means you beat your man. If you only beat your man 33% of the time then yes you are good but no you are not dominating. The only way I can think of it is if a wide receiver got open 33% of the time would he be considered to be dominating his cover guy? I honestly don't know but the the offensive player in me would say no. But not all "getting to the QB"s are created equal. It doesn't have to be a sack. It could be a hit on the QB, flushing him out of the pocket, forcing him to step up. Or even just forcing a bad throw because you made him rush it. There are any number of ways to affect the QB without sacking him. I am in no way arguing that Micah is not a great player or that he did not force the Cowboys to have a plan for him.. What I AM arguing is that the Cowboys plan worked. Micah did not significantly impact our offense beyond forcing Dak to be sharp as a tack and get through his reads quicker. Which frankly probably helps us in the long run!
A 10 second Google search would do you wonders. Last year the highest pass rush win overall rate was 26%. (LINK) Solely from EDGE, it was 29% (Parsons was 2nd with 28%).

But go on about WRs getting open or something.

Cleveland gave up 40 last week. Pittsburgh gave up 32 in regulation to the Jets. So I guess Garrett and Watt are overrated, too. Who are your favorite pass rushers who are better than Micah? Let's take a look at their game logs and see if this kind of logic holds up.

Also - again - Micah Parsons doesn't count for $47M against the cap. You're wrong about that. In fact, this year, he counts for ~$10M. Quite a steal, yeah?
I guess I don’t really have one anymore. It Was MP, but he’s not here anymore. I’m not one of these guys who has favorites on other teams. If we played James Houston, he could be a favorite in the near future.
But having favs on other teams, that stopped with guys like Walter, Barry, Moss, Lott etc. The guys who played and didn’t care about the money.

I like some guys; but idc if they are the best or not. I guess I like watching Crosby, Hutchinson, “lotu”, and Bonitto is also playing well. None of them have the ME attitude that you know Parsons has.

Like I said, I don’t care what he counts ATC, comprehension my friend, The bottom line is he’s getting paid out 46 million this year. Thats absurd for any defensive player!!!

Using PFF, a PRWR of 33% is dominating by any NFL stat measurement. ESPN’s nextgen stats use different criteria, but the general range is similar.

In 2024, Myles Garrett was #1 overall with a PRWR of 23.1% and a Pressure rate of 18.1%

Parsons was second at 20.2%, which was actually off from 2023 when he was at 24.2%

In 2022, he was at an amazing 25.6%

In the Packer game, just the one game, he had a PRWR of 34.5% which is, of course, impossible to sustain over a full season.

I'm getting old. I don't get any of it. I don't like the dancing, I don't like the social media stuff, I don't like the way kids dress these days, I don't like any of it. We can probably relate on that, but I don't let it bother me anymore. It says as much about me as it does them. Why should care, as long as they aren't hurting anyone? is my philosophy.

I only care about the cap hit when it comes to money. Everyone involved makes so much money that it makes my head spin. I am numb to that part of it, these days. But I get it.

What constitutes Micah or any line man as winning his match up? Explain it to me like Im in gradeschool. I won't be offended. I seriously dunno what the criteria is. Thanks
Here you go

Pass rush win rate (PRWR) measures how often a defensive player defeats their pass-blocking opponent within 2.5 seconds. This metric isolates the individual battle between pass rusher and blocker, unlike other stats like sacks or pressures that can be influenced by factors like coverage or route running. It provides a cleaner look at a pass rusher's ability to beat their block, with a higher win rate indicating more success in this direct confrontation

Trust me he doesn't know a thing. He posts stats with no context and drops his mic.
He’s actually one of the few posters who even attempts to use any kind of metric other than the old eyeball test.

I'm sure someone smarter than me can do a better job than I can, especially if there is official criteria that I'm not aware of. But I'd offer something like this--just a thought experiment. On average, it takes 4.3 seconds to record a sack. Let's say getting to the QB in 3.5 seconds or less constitutes a win for a DE. The DE has no control over whether the QB releases the ball faster than that. In theory, a QB can receive the snap and throw the ball faster than a lineman can get around a blocker and get to the QB. Winning a matchup, getting a hurry or a pressure is a way of measuring how well the DE did his job independent of how quickly the ball was thrown, since that is outside of his control.
You are correct, except for the timing. 2.5 seconds to beat your clock is the standard to be a win.

I thought I saw more of him on the bench grasping for air than in the game. Its easier to get pressures when he only plays half the snaps and comes in fresh on passing downs.

$47M is way too much for a player that can't even play every down and is basically a pass rush specialist. Dallas won the trade, easily.
Spot on brother
Crazy money for a guy who makes a couple tackles a game maybe

He abused the cowboys lines and held them only to 40 points.
Good job, Micah. Without you cowboys would have scored 70.

What game where you watching? He abused Guyton and help multiple times and he even abused Tyler Smith on a play. Micah had the highest grade of any defender on the field with a grade of 94.2. He had 10 pressures in 30 pass rushing reps. Micah wasn't the issue. Dak was in his bag. Though Micah did have a game saving tackle on Dak when he was ready to run into the endzone. It's weird we left Ferg one on one with a top 3 pass rusher in the NFL in a big game moment.
what game were you watching, he didn't do jack

like I said in my OP, depending on who you listened too, because I know you listen to someone instead of believing your own eyes if you watched the game. Micah did not have 10 or 8 pressures, I saw 2 times maybe 3 that he was close enough to affect Dak. LOL

WHAT!!!!!!! He didn’t abuse anyone!! It’s funny how different pundits and media have him with 2 -8 pressures
Love Baldi but this is a bad take. Not sure what film he watched or what agenda he has. If he abused anyone it was super late in the contest and the game announcers didn't say anything.

Here is a shorter video of Micah's pass rush attempts

Here are the timestamps of him getting 1v1 that I counted. I'd say there are easily 7 pressures that you can credit Parsons with and 10 isn't out of the question depending on how loose we want to grade.

:04 - pulling guard on a rollout
:30 - Vs Guyton (wish this play had better video quality. Parsons beats Guyton, but Dak snaps the ball at :30 and the ball is out of his hand by :32
:50 - Vs Guyton - Clear win for Parsons but yet again the snap is at :51, throw at :53
:59 - Vs Guyton - Quick pressure, but its a screen so I can't say thats a Parsons win
1:30 - Vs Guyton - We will probably get split decisions on this play, but I'd give it to Parsons. Snapped at 1:31, ball out at 1:34. I'd entertain the argument that Guyton did enough to get him to go around the QB though.
1:40 Vs Steele - Easy Parsons win on the inside move. Once again the ball is out within 2 seconds
2:19 - Vs Smith - Easy swim move for Parsons
2:39 - Vs Guyton - Easy speed move to beat Guyton to the outside
3:24 - Vs Steele - Nice job by Steele
3:33 - Vs Steele - Parsons beat him inside. Once again ball snapped at 3:34, ball out by 3:36
3:40 - Vs Steele - Steele win on a quick pass
3:48 - Vs Thomas - Nice job by Thomas
3:59 - Vs Schoon - Parsons get pressure but due to the play design
4:20 - Vs Ferg - Parsons wins, this is the OT "sack" they gave to Parsons
4:30 - Vs Steele - I'd be open to either side on this one. Parsons walks him back and gets in the face of Dak at the time of the throw, but Steele gave him a solid 4 seconds of protection.

Why would we grade an individual player for team results though? If an O-lineman makes his block but the RB makes a bad read and hits the wrong hole do we mark that as a bad play for the OL? Is anyone expecting Zay Flowers to go out and put up 100+ yards this weekend if Lamar Jackson doesn't play? No, because results are dependent upon all 11 guys on the field.
which is why a win rate means nothing

So a player winning their 1v1 matchup means nothing? This is the type of attitude that leads to guys trying to play hero ball and ultimately costing the team. I can't think of a single coach who doesn't preach to their players "just do your job".

Yeah but this fan base told us for years that "Tank Lawrence got paid to sack the quarterback." Choosing to ignore all the other great things he was doing. I cannot sit idly by now and let people defend Micah who is making almost 3X as much as we paid Tank and now suddenly "all that other stuff" is great. You can't have it both ways. Micah did not significantly impact the game. Yes he had some impact but the bottom line is Dak was better at what he does than Parsons was. We as Cowboys fans should be celebrating that fact instead of worrying about Micah getting all the accolades he deserves.

I don't disagree with you at all Ronnie, aside from the fact that I'm not going to tear another man down just because some people want to be ignorant on the internet. Micah Parsons performance was excellent, the problem for him was Dak Prescott was simply 5x better than excellent Sunday night and didn't give him a chance to show up on the stat sheet.

The issue with Dlaw (aside from health) is simply that he spent his best years in the time where analytics were just getting introduced to football. For that his 2017 through probably 2021 or so goes mostly unappreciated.

You guys will make up whatever you need to make up to believe what you want to believe.

Parsons played 53.5 snaps per game last year. Garrett played 48.6. Watt played 55. Hunter played 40. Hendrickson was 55. Bonitto was 42. Van Noy was 53. Anderson Jr. was 40.

And again: Micah Parsons doesn't count $47M a year against the cap.

The game went 4 quarters plus overtime. How about we add up Micahs snaps through 4 quarters and do your analysis again?
